No worries man. I don't want you to tear your truck apart just for that. Someone sent me the instructions for the 3rd gen and I think I can figure it out. Thanks though.

Got it installed, piece of cake. Actually didn't even need tech stream as it was already to set to use it. I adjusted the sensitivity so it would go off when I clapped my hands loudly inside the cab.

Harness/plug for it was taped up to the yellow harness hereIMG_6202.jpg

    Here's a closeup

    Mounted it here

    Pretty simple.

Your alarm worked before the gbs? I turned my alarm on via techstream but don’t think it is working. Figured I needed the gbs. Hmm, I guess I need to try again.

Yes my alarm worked before installing the gbs. If you activated yours with techstream it should work as well. It doesn't need the gbs to work. You can test by sitting in the truck, locking your door with your fob, the lock light on the dash should come on steady, then after 30 seconds it should blink, now manually unlock your door, the horn should go off.

Yeah I tried that but it didn’t work. I’ll try it again. I just always thought I needed the gbs. Good to know though. Thanks.

Do you have the alarm in passive mode? It should be if it's not already. You may have missed turning on a setting in techstream. I did that the first time I activated it.

Here's install Instructions as well as ops check instructions. The instructions I got with the gbs were for 2nd gens, even though they are pretty much the same these have better pics. The tech stream part didn't apply to mine as it seems like this was for an older version then what I have. http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/PT398-34142inst.pdf

Installed the GBS today following your instructions and it worked perfectly. Mine worked before but I didn't have the GBS. I didn't do anything but install and plugged the two connectors. Thanks...

Awesome! Glad to hear! I was thinking of upping my sensitivity a notch the next time I tear my dash apart.

I set my sensitivity to about 7 or 8 and the tapping on the glass with my key set off the alarm. The factory setting didn't set it off.

I set mine to where the tapping on the glass didn't set it off but clapping my hands loudly did. I work at an Air Force base so I didnt want jets setting it off all day every day. But that hasn't happened yet so time to up it a little

I just bought a 2018 Tundra and the window sticker does say Anti-theft System with Alarm. I'll test it tonight to see if it's activated. So if mine is activated when I do the test how do I stop the horn and lights flashing?

And if it's not activated I'll be going to the dealer to have it activated. I don't see how they can charge you when it's listed on the window sticker.

When you're sitting I. The truck and after you lock it the little lock light on the dash will blink. Once it stops blinking and goes steady that means your alarm is armed (usually 30 seconds) but depends on what it's set to. Then you can open the door handle from the inside to set it off

I honestly haven't had a car alarm in 20 years so I have a stupid question. To test it you have to actually open the door from inside the vehicle but would the alarm go off if the truck was locked and somebody pulled on the door handle from the outside?

It goes off when the alarm is armed and a door or the hood is opened. Or if you have a glass breakage sensor when it hears a loud noise.
