mine got ripped off in the carwash, but it was the front one. going to take them both off, clean/scour that channel out, and use a combo of some aircraft worthy double sided tape we have here at work and silicone to fill in any excess gap. glad i saw this.

    None. Keeping this one stock.
Hate to say it, but if you go to an automatic car wash that has the big giant fans at the end of it, you should check for those missing. Can't do much other than push them back onto the clip thingies.

My 09 Taco had the same issue. Not only a gap , but actually came off in the car wash. 3M'd it.

My '16 looked like this new. I accidentally broke one and had it fixed under warranty and it looked like this after Toyota installed a new one as well. It appears to be normal.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
I have gap-osiss on both sides of mine 16, and it doesn't even have 12000 miles on it yet. Hummm.

One on my 2009 Tacoma came off at hwy speed and started slapping the roof. I got it replaced under warranty but did not notice little dents until 2 months later while unloading ATV off trailer. Took back to dealer explained what happened and they got a paintless dent dude to fix.

Did you notice most vehicles have these now. The manufactures figured they can just weld the entire side on, but it leaves a ugly seam, this rubber is just to cover their flaw.

I had mine fall off and Toyota replaced it under warranty. Then that one fell off in the car wash. I went to Lowe's and bought some strong double sided tape and put that under the seal. Hasn't fallen off since.

If that doesn't work try 3M black weather adhesive. Can be found at NAPA or most auto parts stores.

My 2010 Tacoma was the same setup. It didn’t have the gap but it had the same shitty weather molding. It flew off going through a car wash one time so I fought it for a few months. I used the same 3M double sided tape and that didn’t much good at all.
In the end I just ordered the roof rack and eliminated that piss poor design..

If Toyota would just hire mechanics to over look the engineers, most of this shit wouldn't be.

I had this happen the other day. Any consensus? Should i just 3m double sided tape it up?

Yours is brand new, under warrantee. If you're willing to spend time atbghey dealership, let em fix it. You'll undoubtedly have opportunity to go the 3M route when the warrantee period is up.

i hear ya. for such a small thing, i'm not sure its worth the ferry trip over haha. if the 3m is holding. i would rather just do that. The gaps are normal? mine has about an inch gap on either side. my 2014 tacoma doesn't have a gap there...

I swear my dad said he had the same piece of trim fly off his 2016 Tacoma. That truck has like maybe 10,000 miles on as of this date(he's retired and doesn't drive a lot). Dealer replaced it under warranty, no questions asked IIRC.

I will check the gap on my new Tundra when I get it and probably go ahead and add some glue to it as well as black silicon to fill the gap. Lame if it comes that way.

Yeah, they all have a gap. :notsure: No sure reason has been shared. But they do have 'em so it's probably good to get something up there. With a gap.

While at the dealership waiting for finance to get me approved for my current tundra, I was fidgeting with the other tundras on the lot looking for roof rack install points and noticed this gap on pretty much all the tundras..

Mine has it too! Will wait and see if I need to do anything to it. I am thinking it's there for expansion. My Tacoma never had an issue with this.

Anybody have the part number for the weather strip?? Just realized my driver side is missing and I'm 4k over 36. Looks like I'm on my own.

I just bought the truck a week ago... and it was from a dodge dealership. I feel like the odds are stacked against me for getting it covered at my local dealership.

I’m on the look out for a cool roof rack or something that bolts right in its place. I did it on my Tacoma.
Does anyone know of something like this?

Part number for drivers side Roof Molding for CrewMax is 75552-0C060. Clip is 75561-02020. Just in case anyone is interested. Scoured the internet and the cheapest place I could find it with shipping included was Amazon. $73.99 shipped for both. Local stealerships wanted 87.20 and the one across the river wanted $115.
