    Happy New Years.
I was just able to get a great local craigslist deal on a brand new set of 6112s already set to the top setting. They also came with two shims which would bring the front to around 3 inches total.
Question 1 for the experts: if I do a 3 inch up front do I need UCAs or anything else or is 3 inches still within the parameters of not needing additional parts? The whole reason I am doing the 6112 route is to avoid other components and because it is perfect for needs and daily driving.

Question 2: I can afford 5160s or 5100s so I am wondering if the 5160s and an add a leaf will be the best setup for me compared to shackles or blocks?

Question 3: should we create a sticky or a thread just for 6112 setups due to the amount of info on them on the forum? But the info is scattered in about four different posts.

    Thank you for any information.

The shims came with the sale so I figured if I have them use them. But the previous owner probably had them in mind for the lean just in case and not so much for the height addition now that you mention it.

Mainly on road like most of us. In the Carolinas. So mud and dirt and gravel state park roads or the pavement. Occasional beach driving.

I keep reading not to do a block. One person recommended the 5160s and an add a leaf which sounds nice and clean. And I'm not knowledgeable enough on the pros and cons of shackles. But I do know I'm not taking my truck off any sweet jumps anytime soon.

Nothing wrong with a 1" block, but they do recommend a 1" tapered block. This is the only place I found the solid billet aluminium block. Low Range Off-road. If your gonna raise your rear over an 1" then shackles.

You are cutting it close at 3in. Most say you don't need UCAs at that lift, but there are always guys who chime in and say you do.

I won't do the shims and stay with what others have already proven reliable. If there is lean, then shim will be available.

I went with the 6112's up front on top setting with close to 2.5" with stock UCA's and no shims and 5160's rear stock with nothing else added! Love the ride though it is firm and yet responsive, thats the ride and look I wanted. Almost perfect level with the bulldog stance, great clearance front and rear.

I was going with King's or other high end but I figured I'm not a avid off roader but yet wanted something if needed to go off but yet a good quality, thats why I choose the above. I did buy 1" coach builder shackles but yet to put them on, maybe some day if I tow or bet rack I will!

here's my ride and I think you will be happy, many others go with the 6112/5160 set up!

Thanks boss! I know this seems to be a more popular Tundra setup. That’s why in my first post I was wondering if we can make a “the official 6112 setup page” with everyone’s info and setups and lessons learned. I know when I search about it, there are at least four different threads with good info on the subject but also with just enough variance to make you second guess what to do exactly as far as which setting, shims, shackles, blocks, add a leafs, etc.

    Im working on it!
I would love to hear from those that have gone from the 3rd to the fourth setting or vice versa and what if any were the changes in the ride.

Exactly. I’ve read other posts here that say not to do the top setting due to compression issues. Others have no issues. Some say you need UCAs some say you don’t. I’m just doing what @geno0506 did and calling it good.

I’m just like you. Parking in southern fields or side roads that are dirt or gravel with pot holes. So the 5100s look awesome. I can afford the 5160s also since I got the 6112s assembled locally on Craigslist for $600. So I may do them just because of that.

Now we need to figure out how to start a 6112 sticky thread for all your guys collected knowledge on a very practical and good looking setup for the tundra.

I went a little different way. For the best on road ride, and still a good off road, Bilstein recommend the 6112/5160 with the fronts set at position #2, or a lift of around 1.5", then I put 2" in blocks in the rear to keep the truck level. Then I put on Yokohoma Geolanders that gave me another 1" of lift. So I picked up just about 3" of lift, but I improved my ride on and off road massively. My truck looks better. Win, win, win. (It's 18" on the nose to the bottom of my license plate in the front, and the inside bottom of the trailer hitch in the back.)

I have mine at the top setting and put the 5160's in the rear without any rear lift and absolutely love the ride, firm but solid.

First off I’m new to this forum, but I’ve had my 6112’s/5160 on my 17 CM on the top setting for about 11k miles and couldn’t be happier with the performance and ride on stock 265/65r18. It was just recently I upgraded my wheels and tires to 275/70r18 with a 12+ offset wheel and surprised of the improvement that made. After 10,000 miles of highway driving/weekend off roading i’ve noticed I have a .50” bro lean so I’ve made some purchases and she’s going into the shop for some upgrades.

Right... I knew I wanted to make one purchase and if I didn’t go these the first go around I knew later on that I would probably buy them didn’t want to buy another set of UAC. Besides these are gonna look amazing sitting just above the tire

Not sure if I needed the SPC adjustable UCA's. But I put them on when I did the 6112's this weekend. Figure I had it all tore apart, might as well. Atleast I don't have to wonder if I need them now. Very happy with the ride ( 6112's at 2.5"). had front end aligned and no problem at all.

    Totally, the Falken is a 275/70r18 (33.4)
I would say with a min of a +12 offset you could go 295/70 on 18’ or even 35x12.5 on 17’

Does it ride better than stock? Or as well ..so you have 6112s in front and 5160s with leafs in back.
