JBL freezing and rebooting on my 15 platinum with Iphone 6s and 7plus

I am on my 3rd JBL nav/radio unit so far. The unit keeps rebooting and freezing when I make calls. I am at wits end and don't know what else to do. I have deleted all text messages, got a new IPhone, etc.... and tried doing all the stuff Toyota has told me to do. Is there anything else that can be done to fix this short of not using Bluetooth. I love my truck, but this is RIDICULOUS. I told them that I didn't want another refurb radio installed because the last 2 were terrible. I have made a case with Toyota and I am getting nowhere.
Is there any fix for this? Unacceptable for a $45,000+ truck.

I am having the same issue. The radio will freeze, then will turn itself off and on whenever it feels like. Happens just enough it’s annoying.

 

I have tried the available update and nothing seems to work. Toyota can keep it until they learn how to fix this.

 

Mine started doing it when I updated to IOS 11. I'm saving my pennies for a new radio. Entune kinda blows anyway.

My 2014 JBL radio started to randomly restart a few days a day shortly after buying it last year. I took it back to the dealer and they did a software update. Havent had an issue since

 

I'm in this boat as well. I'm reluctant to go to the dealer to hear the famous we cannot duplicate the issue. Ouch, 3rd receiver though?

 

If you have the entune app on your phone delete it and don’t reinstall it. I did that and my rebooting went away.

 

Same problem a few times a week. Only happens when I’m running my phone off of the blue tooth connection though, not when it’s plughed in through the USB port.
But since my USB port seems to only work when it wants to, I’m almost always using the blue tooth.
Highly annoying.

Same issues here and I'm also on iOS11. The dealer hasn't replaced the head unit but they have run 2 software updates. The second update was about 2 week ago, it did help with the hard reboots during phone calls but overall it still has plenty of Bluetooth issues. Its a good FM radio in a 50K truck.

 

Same thing here in a Tacoma 2017 and now in my Tundra ‘17.

 

Same thing here, and it started with iOS 11, and it's only when making phone calls.

I'm going to delete the Entune app as suggested by @BlueBottle and see if that works. That app is totally useless anyway.

 

I have yet to have any issues since i deleted the app. I havn't re-installed it since.. godspeed. Entune is crap! Im going carplay headunit one of these days.

 

I deleted the app, but unfortunately the problem still persists.

 

Try deleting the Bluetooth device and reconnecting it.

Anybody have the rebooting problem with iOS 12?

 

I have an issue where my iPhone 8 just disconnects from the bluetooth without warning. Usually when I hang up from a call but it does it at other random times too. Great trucks, shitty radios.

 

IOS 12 seems to have fixed the issue, which is a shame, because I was looking for an excuse to get the Alpine HALO 9.

I've been looking at that. Not sure if I like it not being flush with the console.

 

I hated the idea at first, but a 9" screen, with higher resolution, being even closer to your eyeballs, sounds awesome.

IOS 12.......please turn out to be shit.

2019 Tundra continues to frequently freeze and reboot when phone connected to radio and I attempt to dial out. Makes no difference if I select contact from truck screen or pick a contact from the phone. Also will disconnect from phone after ending some calls. I get a new tundra every year and have tried everything. Different phones, radios (dealer), upgrades on both phones and radio head, they SUCK. Been an issue around the last 3 years. Toyota has no answers.

 

Not sure this will help anyone but when I updated my 2014 firmware. I downloaded the firmware for the 2014-2015. There is also a different firmware for the 2016-2017. It never rebooted again. I went from a 7plus to a iphone max and it still works perfect.
