They have ported enclosures for 10" as well as 8" and 12" variety and double/single speaker configurations as well. You can order it in black carpet as well for a small upcharge.

 

I installed Memphis highs and Addictive Audio 600 rms 10 inch sub with 1000 rms Audio pipe pushing the 10 inch sub with custom made box behind the seats ....sounds amazing and looks great

 

Does anyone besides ********* provide a plug n play amp that goes underneath the passenger side seat the subwoofer and front and rear door? I would really like to use a plug n play versus having to run speaker wire all over the truck.

The link is for the harness that plugs into the factory amp harness to interface with an aftermarket Line Out Converter, then you can hook an aftermarket amplifier in.

no need to run new speaker wire unless you are pushing a bazillion watts to each speaker (seriously....you are fine wit the stock wiring)

Here are some things to consider:
no matter what, you need to run a power wire from the battery to the front passenger seat. Not very hard at all to do.
The harness (tech12volts also sells them, i recommend them) bypasses the stock amplifier so it can be removed. It provides the speaker level output from the head unit that will go on the input of your amp, and the wires that go the door speakers that will be hooked up to the output of your amp.

Hey guys...got a question. I'm slowing putting together a speaker system in my truck. I already installed some Infinity front/rear door speakers/tweeters and just ordered 2 10" subs for behind the rear seats. When I ordered the subs the guy told me that I needed to rewire the whole truck because the stock wiring would not be able to handle anytime over 40 watts. Is this true or was this guy just trying to sell me some extra stuff I really don't need? I was really hoping to buy the harness to use the stock wiring into the input side of the amp instead of running speaker wire all over the truck. Let me know your thoughts. Here is some speaker info:

Front 90 watts RMS
Rear 65 watts RMS
Subs 50-300 watts RMS dual 2 ohm voice coils

What size amp are you planning to use?
Anything over 50 Watts per channel then yeah that’s a good idea.
Let’s just say your spending $500 or more for an amp maybe closer to 750. Is another 20 bucks in speaker wire going to break the bank? Probably not.
Will it add to your install time of course but it will be worth it. If you run a big enough amp and try to use the stock wiring you will have a voltage drop over the length of wire.

 

You'll be fine, but you have to run heavier speaker wire from the amp to the subs.

 

I’m thinking of either of these two amps:

Kenwood KAC-7005PS
5-channel car amplifier — 40 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 500W x 1 at 2 ohms (New Stock)

Kenwood Excelon XR900-5
5-channel car amplifier — 60 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms (New Stock)

For the first one stock should be ok. Second one I would say is borderline depending on actual gauge of stock wiring.
Either way that would be a personal preference at that power level.

However looking back at your speaker power rms if it was feasible I would go with the bigger amp. Under powering speakers is bad for them too.... when you try and rail on them.

 

I'm running a JL Hd900/5 that outputs 75w rms per channel and used the factory wiring. You will be fine. You most likely wont have it cranked to 11.

 

I have the same amp. What size and color is factory? Color is to check against mine. I highly doubt it’s factory.... however I could be wrong.

I was asking what the size and color wire coming out of your amp to the speakers is. Mine does not appear to be factory so I was going to compare it to what your factory wiring was to see if in fact when the install was done(on mine) if they did run new speaker wires to the speakers. It was supposed to be done.

Ok i checked out the build and the pics. Looks like our wiring is the same as far as I can tell. It looks the same between the amp and the Fix. Mine is all covered in wrap though. They said they ran new wires all the way to the speakers. I don't feel like ripping that apart to check. However on the other side of your plugs it looked like about the same gauge if not the same. I read somewhere that the factory used 22...thats pretty freaking thin. If it is what looks to be 16-18 then I would agree that is plenty to handle the amps we are talking about.


Unrelated I am going to check how my amp is set because I too have that low volume hiss. It was worse and they dialed down the gains and that helped but its still there. I am sure it can be fixed. If not I have another reason to upgrade to in dash dvd and gps.

 

Just traded my 2015 Tacoma which had amazing sound for a 2018 Tundra (with Nav) and it sounds terrible. I adjusted the EQ but different FM and HD stations are at different volumes, I get very little bass from a CD, and Bluetooth from my phone is very quiet even when turned up. How could the Tundra sound so much worse than the Taco?

 

Working on getting everything for my stereo upgrade. I just have to get my amp, processor, and sub box then I'll be ready to tackle this project....that and some warmer weather here in Missouri. I plan on installing everything under the passenger seat but was wondering what amp rack you guys used with installing your after market amplifier/processor? I would love to hear what you guys used and photos if you could post them that would be great. Thanks!

 

Watch the video in my build thread about adjusting the hiss. You basically need to take the hiss out with the LOC then adjust your amps accordingly. Clean signal into the amp == clean signal out of the amp.

 

Industrial grade velcro, attached it right to the carpet.
