I'm not sure if I have a limited slip differential or not./ My 2000 Tundra is a V8 4wd. I recently had the differential start leaking from the housing, I fiberglassed over it and am going to check differential fluid but I am not sure if it is limited slip or not. I read in two manuals that limited slip takes limited slip hypoid while standard takes regular hypoid. Any clarification as to how to find out and fluid recommendations is appreciated. Thanks..B

Use Redline 75w90 gear oil and it will work for both. It has friction modifiers for LSD's but you can safely use it on non-lsd diffs.

00-01 didn't have a factory LSD option. LSD was a factory option starting in 2002.

Would also say lSD oil only in the back of the axle housing next to the fill plug

Only if the sticker stays on. Mine pealed off after about 5 years

Well stop rubbing your junk on the axle housing and it won't do that

Thanks to all who responded. Will look for tag and assume pre 02 is not LSD.

Will Royal Purple work for both as well? I bought a pre-owned vehicle that had the frame coated to protect it from rusting further. As such all stickers have been coated or lost.
