My dealership tried pulling the same crap that it's every 10, but I insisted it's every 5 and then they actually looked it up.
You should be fine I've ran it past 10k before on synthetic towing heavy and driving with a lead foot.
I'd look for a new dealership.
I try to do oil every 5k.
I'm surprised the maintenance required thing was reset but no oil change done. That's messed up.
This just sounds like a shit show good luck hopefully they make it right.

That's assuming you're running it with e85 fuel.

+1, I was not aware that FFV vehicles have a different maint. schedule. Not sure what the difference are with a FFV. I always thought it was just fuel lines and components are different to stand up to the ethanol. Maybe some computer settings to help burn the crap. I would think the short block components would be the same.

If I remember correctly, the pistons in a Flex Fuel have a special coating to prevent damage from the acids that E85 creates when burned.

Oh wow 10K oil changes for Yotas is pretty good. Good to see that. I guess Toyota's standard is full synthetic or a blend? I doubt any Dino oil will be worth a crap after 10K miles.

The Toyota 25k is through Toyota, not the dealership. Don’t like the dealer you took it to? Take it to a different one.

Toyota says for FFV, oil changes at 5k interval. But if E85 was used, oil changes at 2500k interval.

Do you think 10k oil change interval would be okay on FFV that has never used E85? Non-FFV Tundras have a 10k oil change interval.

Stupid FFV. They only sell those around where I am. However, no gas stations sell E85 it around it here. Is FFV some kind of govn't mandated bs? Do they need to sell a certain number/year?

Yes. The difference between the ffv and the non ffv is a sensor in the gas tank that detects the alcohol level in the gas tank, and a different program in the eco that then yelled the fuel injectors to put more gas (the more the alcohol content the more gas needed, this the SHIIIIIT mpg you get with e85)

The reason Toyota recommends at 5k is because e85 is thinner then regular gas and will get in to the oil through the piston rings and start to dilute your oil. If your truck has never seen e85 (hell even if you filled up the tank with it once or twice) there is no harm in changing it every 10k would I recommend it constantly over the course of the engine? Not really.

So I worked for a dealership for several years and during that time I HATED tundras. And most of the owners if I’m being totally honest. But I did learn quite a lot, for example, service writers, some are great others couldn’t do their job if there was 12 more of them helping.

Some service writers don’t relay information to the technician working on the vehicle, some forget, some don’t care, and others have the dealer on their back saying “we don’t make money for this service, don’t do it”

Some people are the total opposite of you, I had my ear chewed off by one lady for DOING an oil change on her ffv at 15k.

If I’m being honest, once a dealer has wronged you, your not going to look at the dealer any other way. So who am I to tell you differently?

Tangent over. Yes your truck will be fine.

Yep, oil dilution is what I was thinking using E85. Sounds like 10k is fine when not using E85. Dealer did not change mine at 5k on FFV vehicle. I am going to take it in when I am off around Xmas and point it out to them.

wonder who pays for the oil change when the car is under the 2 years free maintenance?
are dealers obligated to provide this service in exchange for being allowed to be a "Toyota" dealer or do they charge the Toyota mothership for services provided and get reimbursed?
the reason I ask is that some dealers won't do an early oil change (or unnecessary maintenance) and sounds like some do ...

Always do your own oil changes. Dealers, Quick lube places are not very reliable.

5k is the heavy use interval, that includes towing and they should have changed it, my dealer has done every 5k.

since they do not care where you bought the vehicle I think they submit for payment from Toyota just like warranty work.

No..the Fumoto valve replaces your stock oil pan bolt..it's like a small tiny ball valve it has a locking lever you push in and to side and ther also a hose they sell so it's a no mess oil change... also there is a valve they sell Amazon or eBay that screws to the oil filter cartridge has a twist valve with a hose to drain oil out also no mess

I know it’s late but IMO you got the shaft when you bought a flex fuel.

I HATE removing the "skid plate" when doing an oil change. Have any of you considered using a hole-saw to make an opening below the filter canister?
