Need a truck in the shop with that config to make/verify fitment. If you can get yours to Warsaw, Indiana we could get some going.

Were soon going to be discontinuing the current type 4 and replacing with a partially fabricated and boxed kickout. This is not a decision we made lightly but need to do it. This is the first off the line for our Xterra.

I'm no expert, but I'm afraid the boxes will suffer unnecessary damage from rocks and potentially break the weld. What was the thought process that brought you guys to this decision?

I'm not willing to go into any more detail than I already have. The welds and plates will hold up fine to Rocks. Demello Offroad has been doing boxed end sliders for a few years now with no issues.

I wasn't criticizing, just asking. I absolutely love my Type 4s. I'm sure the decision was made with way more experience involved than what I have

No offense taken and I'm glad to hear you're happy with them. It's just something I dont want to make a public thing. It wasn't an easy decision but it had to be made. Just wanted to throw out an example of a reputable company - not even sure I want to say competitor because of their relative size and market share - that does a similar sheet metal fabricated ending of their sliders.

We're using 3/16" steel for the boxed portions so there's ever more metal there to resist wear and damage.

A few people have asked before and I've never had pictures of my parts done strictly in a gloss clear coat with no color. These things are s bit difficult to get pictures of that look like real life but they look great.

I've been considering getting a set of Type 4's. With the upcoming change to boxed construction, is there a compelling reason to wait? I like the look of the current Type 4s, so would be inclined to go with the current version.

The price will start the same on the new style, however the first 10 sets starting the first of the year were going to offer $150 off in excuse for installed photos and action shots we can use on social media and the website. That's about double the typical tundras.com discount.

Hopefully that's a compelling enough reason to get some early adapters.

I'd be interested in one of those first 10. I'm assuming it would be available with the dimple plate. Can take pictures.

Does anyone have experience installing these?
After an extremely long wait (14.5 weeks), I finally got my sliders, but installation is anything but straightforward. There aren't any written instructions available, so I emailed P&P and got some baseline guidance which I thought was going to be be helpful. I sent another email asking for help, but thought I would see if anyone on here has first hand experience.
I got the passenger side on, but I don't feel good about it. You have to move brake lines out of the way, so they are no longer clipped in place and one of the bolts is pushing on them.
The drivers side is even worse. There is a bracket with a hose that is interfering with the rear mount. I flipped the bracket to move the hose out of the way, but now the hose is in an unnatural position and I don't know if there will be any long term issues with it. Even with that done, I have absolutely no idea how to get the last two backing plates into the frame. There isn't an opening large enough between the fuel tank and frame to fit them in, let a lone manipulate them into place. I'm going to try dropping the skid plate, but I don't think that will even provide enough clearance. I have the 38 gallon tank, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Following the F out of this question... I'm going to install mine this weekend. A lot of what I've been reading and seeing is making me nervous about it. I'm wondering if something just isn't.......off, for lack of a better term.

Turn the bolt around so the long end protrudes out the opposite side of the frame.

You sous only need to push 1 clip out of the frame ava the lines will be held securely by the remaining oem retainers.

There is a backing plate with a nut and handle welded for fishing back behind the gas tank.

Dont flip or move that bracket around. No one has ever had to do that and you're the first to say anything about it being in the way.

We're had zero report issues with people installing production sliders

    Passenger side:
There is no possible way that you could position the backing plates without unclipping 3 of the retainers. One of them goes back in just fine once the backing plate is in place. Another one will never go back in because the backing plate covers the hole. If I turn the bolt around the third one will probably clip back in just fine. Should all of the bolts be flipped around or only that one?

    Drivers side:
If I don't flip or move the bracket there is no way to get the hose out of the way and mount the slider. What do I do?
I completely understand the handle. My problem isn't that I can't hold onto the backing plate, it is that there is literally no opening large enough to fit it between the fuel tank and the frame to get it into position.

The directiOn of the bolts shouldn't matter so long as it's not interfering with anything. I would just turn the 1 around so you ding hace to take the whole slider back down.

I'm over at powder coat right now. I've got a truck with sliders on it in the parking lot to work on skid plates. I'll get under and get some pictures of the hose routing when I get back but we have never had to touch it before.

taking down the factory plastic gas tank skid will give you a bit more room. Note: dont undo the bolts that hold the fuel tank straps.

Off the top of My head I believe we pushed the backing plate into the frame right next to the tank strap connection to the frame.

It is possible and the first one we made, I got installed without a handle. THAT was a pain in the ass and thats when we added the handle.

A picture of the last mount on the driver's side would be great.
BTW the sliders look amazing and I'm really excited to get them on, I'm just having a really hard time with the install.

I'm not sure what else is tagged to your bracket besides the ebraken cable. We just went under it with the leg.

It is my HAM antenna cable, I just followed along the routing, it has plenty of slack, so it can move wherever it needs to.
It looks looks like you might have more room there than I do. I'm going to unscrew the bracket to get the slider in place and then see if the cable will manipulate itself around the slider when I screw the bracket back down.

That bracket is pretty thin. I'm able to bend it up by hand to create some more room as well.

What year is your truck? I just had a 17 pro in the shop and the pass rail brake line routing is slightly different than on the 15's and 16's we had in before. I've had other customers with 17's but not had one in the shop until today.

For starters, you will deff need to take the fuel tank skid plate off to get 3 of the 5 backing plates in. That cover is closer to the rail than before, or larger. It pops off with the 6 nuts (12mm head) down the center of fuel tank straps.

The customer that just left installed his pass side himself. Said he just pushed the lines out of the way. He also had all the bolts facing in as shown in your original picture so that he could get a torque wrench on the head outside the frame rail. He didn't have any interference. So there is space there to manipulate the lines out of the way a bit.

Did you by any chance get a picture of how much he "pushed the lines out of the way"? Did you ask him is he was able to clip them back in place?

I'll take the fuel tank skid off tonight and give it a try.
