I just got my dome light on my cap wired.
Finally used the soldering iron @shifty` sent me. Thanks bud.


Inside of my bed is pretty much done now. Ready to camp in the cold.


Tomorrow I might finally wire the compass mirror and ditch lights.
Now that I have a soldering iron, a couple feet of 12g wire and heat gun, I'm unstoppable.

Or maybe I'll swap the bellow on my driver side tie rod. Maybe all three if they all go smoothly.

 

Installed my new seat cushion, it didn't firm and plump it up and much as I thought so I took it back apart and added high density 1/4" upholstery foam to it. Still pretty soft but I'm guessing that's how the seats are, got rid of the lean I was having at least.

 

Also installed my my new Prinsu rack, washed and waxed after the install.

 

Pulled the single axle.....

Due to fall being here and people's grass no longer growing as fast as it was, our "mowing schedule" is kinda nuts. So.....

Did the local resort HOA as they run mowers out by 5 PM. Then over to the client on the really steep hill. Her grass is kinda "done growing" so this might be the last time we mow her this year. She'll call us when / if she needs it again.

It was pretty late but I talked the wife into one more yard but it was like 15 miles away! Got that one done so just four yards today, including the one literally next door to our property. (Which we always do first).

Tried to get the engine to do that "automatic engine braking" but wasn't successful. I'll keep experimenting.

When i was a noob we used heat on beau’s, because that was before anyone had read the fsm. But i didnt use any heat on mine, alot like brohons socket, cobbled together junk to make it work, but i did pull the knuckle (tied the brakes to the frame) to get it right and hold it in the vise. Didnt have to press them back in, because i got jba’s.



i’ll probably add a pump or 2 to the ubj on the next oil change. (1k miles)

 

Is this the brand you guys recommend besides oem? I can’t remember the name and I can’t find where It was mentioned.

 

I've heard that Akebono, the Japanese all-ceramic pad, is best since it lasts the longest. However, one must drive conservatively and keep their speed in check as it does not brake as effectively as semi-metallic.

I have these on two cars and for me and the wife, we are stopping fine but we are not driving like it's a race.

 

Don't know if you need it or not but I got a 1/4in impact you can borrow for a few days if need be . Also what's your go to NA beer? Been liking Athletic's ipas lately

Not sure on that brand but I've enjoyed Powerstop's pads off of rockauto on various vehicles I've had. Currently have them on the corvette and they hold up to abuse pretty darn well

 

Did you steam the foam? I saw some videos where steaming the foam will open up the cells in the foam more. Plumper.

20yr old powder coat with 150k+ miles on it. Holding up well

 

Spent some more time on the truck this morning. Got the water pump replaced. I noticed the pulley above the timing belt tensioner has a lot of play in it. I'm thinking it must not of been replaced the last time the timing belt was changed. That, and it appears the timing belt cover was RTV'd to the engine .

Still have a lot of re-assembly to do, but glad to be putting parts on now instead of taking them off.

 

Did you have that (powder coat) added personally or was it like that when you bought it?

 

They were machined finish with clear when I bought them used at an off road shop in Modesto CA. They came off of a Chevy, but have the larger center bore compatible with Toyotas. I had them powder coated for $40 a piece.

 

My front tires are starting to cup on the outside tread blocks. Gonna rotate them to the back and head back to the alignment shop. They are nice guys, but not very good at alignments. If they can’t do any better, I’ll pay for a new alignment somewhere else. I think the cupping is the cause of some of the rumbles and vibrations I feel at certain speeds and when turning sharp.

 

Did they print out the results?

 

I dont clean it often, but when i do, it looks good at night, from 40ft away.

 

It would look better with starfish center caps.

I’ll add my opinion but I’ve done 3 UCAs on 3 different trucks (all SPC brand) and never removed the spindle. Ball joint press will make removing easier. I’ve also just cut it really low with a grinder and heated with a torch. 3 blows with a hammer and it should come out easily. Pressed the adapter in with a big set of channel locks. Not a bad job at all.

 

I have 5 extras (starfish center caps, not bumpers) at the house, but Casey wouldn't install them so I won't offer to ship

 

Finally got that driver’s side O2 sensor unplugged. The push-pull method didn’t work but I finagled it for awhile and managed to do a two finger pull with a pinky push down while blind. Tomorrow in go the new sensors. The two block wood ramp isn’t cutting it for the wrenching. Out comes the jack and jack stands tomorrow.

Overcast now. Shower incoming without fail. Never get to finish a job when you want.

Well I made a ton of progress today. I ended up welding an adapter after seeing one on Total Chaos website to help with removing the ball joint. I found that turning the press upside down worked out pretty well and got them both out.

Now my new issue is finding the clearance to get this damn UCA bolt out!
