I forgot about the Tri-Y’s. Does it feel like you lost torque in the low to mid range? That’s where these blowers shine imo, and I’d hate to sacrifice much, if any.

It's hard to say. I got mine installed while we were still in the process of tuning my truck due to finding a bad cat in the midst of it all. So I never drove a fully setup truck before and after.

    Another hiccup on Whipple's part.

Instructions show 3 ports on the silicone coupler between the air box and throttle body.
New one only has 2 so I have no idea where the 5/32 hose from the fuel pressure regulator goes.

Does it say for the fuel regulator to be boost referenced. I thought they recommended it?

Hook up the FPR to one of the ports in the blower, not the air intake. That way it is boost referenced, not atmosphere referenced. I asked Whipple about doing this on the old setup and they said it absolutely should be boost referenced. There are a few ports on the blower manifold that can be used. Lemme see if I can find a pic.

Instructions say ATM reference, Whipple Tech said boost reference.

Volume wise I’d imagine that my 3” catted SPD midpipes got me 75%+ of the volume gain I’d get from catted longtubes. It’s quite a bit louder and more aggressive with the same 2 catbacks I’ve tried with the stock midpipes and the SPD back to back. Performance is hard to say the gains it seems, but it appears it’s sort of minimal with a SC. That said, if my stock manifolds failed it would be hard to not pull the trigger on LTs if going through the hassle of replacing the manifolds.
As the others said, I’d just tee it in with wherever you’re hooking up your boost gauge.

I used this port: there were a few brass nipples included in the old kit that allow you to use that port rather than block it off. There are similar ports on the driver side that can also be used.

Love those intake runners. Perfect for direct port injection of W/M or NO.

Right?! Been thinking about W/M with this one.. I need to quit thinking about reinstalling the blower first and actually get it done. Then I can mess about with other stuff. Though.. while it’s off the motor…

Haha. I’d love to! I’d have to drag it out of my shop and gather all the parts in to boxes for you to figure out jig-saw-puzzle-like how to put it back together. I feel like I’m so close I have to at least bolt the rest back on.

Of course, if I pooched this motor trying to retime it, you may just end up with a trailer full of parts and a motor core on your doorstep next week. Move over @reywcms truck! Might even have a cooler full of smoked meats and such in the back seat as motivation.

    Thanks @blenton

I see that port you circled on mine. It's right next to the fpr so it'll be easy.

No spare 5/32 barbs were included. Argh

Edit: I did find a 1/8 npt to 1/4" barb. Might be able to stretch it over the line if it's the right threads

You could...if your up to it, drill out and tap each runner to 1/8npt and plug em up until your ready for the next phase.

The online whipple pdf shows boost referenced. So only two ports on the intake tube.

We're doing a custom watemeth tank on the old mans tundra with the tank in the bed

Sorry to keep bugging you guys.

The vsv valve.....I'm lost. Is that something that was included in the kit or was it factory? It's step 72

My Comcast is down so I'm having a hard time posting pictures

Since we are taking about Whipple again, I’ve emailed them several times over the last few weeks about the missing injectors just to see if they can offer any type of explanation or reasoning as to why mine was the only kit without them, and why they continued to refuse to send them. They replied this afternoon:

“Those don't use the injectors, we send the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulators in the kit now and that works without the injectors.”

I believe they are referring to the Vacuum Switching Valve, which is a factory part for the charcoal canister or emissions. Are you getting ready to drop the tank? Beyond that, I’m not in the know..

The vsv valve looks like it connects to the bracket on the side of the blower where the intercooler reservoir mounts to, then it hooks to the back one of the 3 nipples off the side of the blower.

After the belt it's the tank, but I'm still working in the engine bay

So couple things here. There’s going to be parts to be reused additional things for like boost gauge etc on the manifold won’t be included in the kit. The fuel assembly items be sure to take your time and not misplace items there. I.e some of the fuel basket items.

Specifically, at least on the DW300 pump, there's an O-ring and plastic retaining sleeve thing, that do NOT come with the new one. Make sure you swap those over to the new pump. Take stock pump out and make sure new pump has the exact same parts in it or it will not seal.

You have a pic with the ic reservoir? Mine is clear and looks like it will hit the side of the supercharger if I just use bolts to secure it.
