10k and 15k posts. Dang you guys put some strong work in with that. I already have calloused thumbs. And my brain hurts thinking of things to talk about.

 

Quantity over attempts at quality, maybe I need to pivot.

 

I figure if the economy gets really, really bad, I may need more diversification on income streams.

So that’s why I’m wondering if I can do some of the things I currently do now, like gardening and mowing, but do it in a Speedo with some yard cameras installed.

 

I don’t think it’s a very good idea, but maybe something to mentally prepare myself for.

the AP/AR functions are barely human anymore.

Purchasing managers (PO mgt) still tends to be human, as they need a head to chop when something goes south.


most, if not all, transaction processing runs very well (automated)...as long as you don't hit the exception group.....then you just need to die.


most O&G accounting systems use big fat AI driven systems like Oracle or Ariba.
and we (the vendor) upload it to the mother ship.
This eliminated the person(s) in the accounting dept and shifted the workload(and expense) to our side.



and for the record Siemens Energy is the absolute worst at transaction processing. They must teach others how to suck.

I can say this...

ya'll are definitely on either side of the mental-stability bell curve.

but not under the bell.

 

Of all the things falling under tariffs right now, outsourced and visa-based workers should be at the top of the list.

 

I'll tickle the 3rd rail....


these outsourced & Visa based workers are generally human robots.

they come from a culture that teaches them to "dig a ditch" or said differently...they just follow directions.

no entrepreneurial sprit.

so, they end up being good at processing transactions.....but nothing else.

sure you have a few at the right side of the bell curve...I speak to the majority of them.



teach your kids to think consequentially.

and they will flourish.

 

I've managed offshore people, and this is mostly true. Several were great, most were okay, and some were, to quote @gosolo 'hiring you was like losing three good men'.

Hire slow, fire fast is a good practice to polish.

I find they're very good at asking other people to do work but not good at doing anything themselves.
