On a related note for all the older men here: (typically 60+)
Male breast cancer is a thing! Somewhat rare yes, but still a thing.
Have a coworker that was diagnosed several months ago with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. (IDC)
It was caught early, he is undergoing treatment, and is doing well, with a good prognosis.

The reason it was caught early was that he didn't overlook or miss the signs and went to his Doc.
Basically no different than women: ANY changes, lump, swelling, tenderness, discharge, etc.

Pay attention to the old bod gentlemen!

I changed my oil in the tundra yesterday

whilst rolling back over to get up, I scrunched the top of my elbow. You know when you roll over to get up and lean on your elbow?

well, I must have bo-hicky’d the bursa sack

and it swolt up

I looked like a battered old fool with balloon on his elbow

I spent $8k on a sleep number bed. One of the best investments I've ever made.

 

we have ordered 2 box beds...... not for us but for or kids and they haven't complained but that's not saying much. I will say our daughter's felt good but I haven't actually slept on it.

 

We spent 6k on a temper-pedic setup with separate adjustable mattresses/bases. Very useful when my wife had both knees replaced.

 

You should have took a picture of it, could have told everyone you pulled a Macho Man from the bed of your truck on somone that stepped on your grass while you were changing your oil!

 

Exactly. I've never bought a "bed" in a box.. Ha!

 

We got a king-size Tempur-pedic mattress a few years ago. Not the firm one, the one with a softer top. It's been an amazing improvement for us, we sleep better.

The only complaint I have about memory foam are the times I'm in a "position", and my knees or perhaps a wrist or whatever will sink down into the foam, and then when I try to move my knees don't like it.

You are dead on concerning the price of mattresses

I think $2k is the best bang for buck

 

Not to get too personal but me and my wife have been together since 2003, the 1st mattress/bed we bought from my knowledge we had probably close to 20 years, so a couple years ago we started looking for a new one and were blown away by how many flavors of mattresses and how the prices had changed. I couldn't tell you what we have now other than I didn't come from a box. Maybe it will last another 20 years and we will have levitating beds that dont need mattresses

 

A serious reply to what was probably(?) a not so serious post.

Given the number of votes I'm seeing, which would suggest others here have purchased a bed in a box, I can say with some level of confidence that you are not alone in the "poor" category.
I would place myself in the same category.
However, I put that in quotes because I think you know, none of us are truly poor. Just relative levels of wealth when compared to the rest of the world. (Or when compared against each other.)

With that said, I agree that some of the conversations lately seem to have drifted slightly into the dick measuring realm.
No status shaming here at all. A little envy maybe.
