Huge improvement over the halogens. You get a wider area of illumination and much better illumination as well. It's worth the upgrade if you do basically any driving where headlights are needed.

And the fact that they look better is a nice plus.

Finally installed the Coachbuilder tie rods. They’re crazy beefy. After the truck got aligned, everything feels super tight, not as sloppy as before. The old tie rod boots were worked, and I had some slop in my steering.

edit. My cv joints aren’t actually at those angles. Truck was lifted on a jack.

Took the RLD cap off and installed a Rough Country Speedometer Calibrator. Truck feels great with the reduction of weight. The canopy alone was 300+lbs not including the roof rack

Was the Speed calibrator a pain? Would also like to hear an update as to how accurate it played out. Truck looks good!

I have a roll up tonneau cover I will throw on just to keep things dry and looking “secure”. If I were to do it again I am not sure I’d go with the RLD canopy

Was surprisingly easy to install. About 30 min total. You do need a windows computer to program it because Rough country uses the same hypertech software which is windows based. I programmed it off of tire size vs the gear ratio. Felt like this yielded better results. I left the usb cable hooked up so I could just plug in a laptop and fine tune it without having to pull the instrument cluster again. Took me a couple tries to get it perfect but now my Speedo matches perfectly with 2 different gps apps I used for speed comparison. The computer has adapted to reflect true mpg and I feel like the shift points/rpms are a little better. Overall I am happy and should have done this mod a long time ago.

The biggest thing I learned is it won’t be perfect if you just put your current tire size. You have to tweak it a bit to get the speeds to match between gps and speedometer. For example my true tire height is 36.77. By putting this number it got me closer on the speedometer but i was still 2mph off. I found that going down a size in my case to 35.77 got the numbers to match perfectly

Are those CBI Offroad sliders? If so how are you liking them and would you recommend? How was the install?

thanks! Haven’t decided if I’ll do glass fenders in the rear. I have an SOB fabrication high clearance rear bumper sitting in the garage that I need to install

Yes they are the cbi sliders. Overall I really like them and have been solid. Top fill plate feels good to stand on. I just primed and spray painted them for ease of touch up. I think when I respray I’ll go with raptor liner just to get the added texture. I will say they are a little slick when wet but I don’t think that is any fault to the slider and more the paint I used. Just a matte finish rust-oleum spray paint.

Install was a little of pain from what I remember but I also did the install myself. The hardest part was bolting it up by the gas tank since there isn’t a ton of room between the tank and frame where the slider connects

Trying my hand at plastic welding, trying to design a pannel for 8in speakers to go in the rear door pannels where the bottle holders/trash collector is, so instead of just cutting the door to pieces I used a heat gun to pop the plastic nubs on the back side and pulled this whole piece out to get the shape and measurements for the speaker pannels. Now I'm welding this back. The end game is have a pannel/mesh cover to go over the whole pice to cover the speakers and crossover and minimal destruction to the pannel and still look semi flush and clean in my opinion 20250804_151213.jpg 20250806_112659.jpg

Ambitious weekend of maintenance at 150k. Made it through the dirty stuff: front and rear differential fluid, transfer case fluid and power steering fluid. Hopefully do the spark plugs this weekend. Started off easy, rear diff and t-case fluids drained and filled no issues. (side note: the liqui moly 75W oil I got for the t-case had a built-in extension tube which was super helpful). The reason I couldn't get everything done was the dang front differential. Specifically the 10mm hex drain plug that I stripped almost immediately, which I found out was a common problem. Yay! The ensuing hours of problem solving led me to a thread on here that suggested replacing the plug with that of a Lexus GX470, which has a 14mm bolt head. After a couple trips to Harbor Freight and the Lexus dealer, I finally got the drain plug free with a 3/8" pipe nipple extractor and me kicking the ratchet like Bruce Lee. Why does it feel like every bolt or plug last touched by the dealership is tightened by Superman? Anyway, replaced the mangled bolt with the Lexus one, replaced the two rear diff plugs for good measure, and used all new washers. And made sure everything was torqued to spec!!!
After all of that the power steering flush was a breeze. Bought a fluid extractor recently, hooked it up to the return hose of the power steering fluid reservoir and quickly pulled all the old fluid out while pouring the new stuff in. Another diy job that took longer than it should but will go much smoother next time.

Anyone have a Limited/Platinum with the stock 20" wheels and spacers? Trying to decide if that would give me the stance I want or if I'm going to need to go aftermarket.

I dont have either of those trims but me personally I dont like the idea of spacers, just another component to fail that you dont want to fail while driving, not saying they are bad just more maintenance in my opinion

This truck is a recent purchase, and needed a tonneau cover asap. The Tyger T1 soft cover arrived tonight. I pulled the rails and coolers to do a full clean-out. I then de-greased, dried, and brushed in 303 UV protectant. IMO it looks better than new. I am able to fit all my req tac gear in one side cooler, they fit a LOT.
