Is oiling a box fan before using and kick starting it like a model T by spinning the fan blade by hand an indication I need to buy another or tear it apart and properly lube it?

I bought it in 1985 and everything but the blades are metal. Won’t find that today at an inexpensive price.

It’s probably a shaded pole motor so it doesn’t have a ton of starting torque, if you can pull it apart and clean or change the bearings, maybe clean the rotor and stator if you can

My only concern is if I pull the fan blade off the shaft it’ll split and I won’t be able to put it back on there. Been kind of reluctant to do so because of that. If it’s near dead, I may just give it a try though.

I've been trying to find replacement trim inserts for this latch. The inserts are easy enough to find, my problem is that I can't find the correct color for my interior.
Twice I've ended up with this very wrong dark charcoal, even though there's sticker in the glove box that identifies the color of my captain's chairs as "charcoal".
The other time, it was a tan that was far too light. Is there any way to know the technical name for the interior trim pieces so I can perform a better search?
Now I've got to figure out what to do with all these that aren't the right color.

Can enter the VIN here, and the number and name of the trim along with the part number for the truck can be identified.

    https://toyota-usa.epc-data.com/

Then can look for that cross reference in the part being ordered.

BTW ordered cross reference for these part numbers that are usually labeled aftermarket as "light gray".

    69278B 69278-0C010-B1 01 08.2002 BEZEL, FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE, LH GSK30,UCK30,40,VCK30,40..LIMD,SR5

    MD.CHARCOAL,TRIM11

Found these matched the "charcoal" "trim 11" just fine and are as inexpensive as $12-15 for a pair ... but looks like a tan one made it into the package too!

Guess I shouldn’t have made THAT comment…it just died like a fuse went out and I don’t think it has any fuses so I’m guessing one of the windings broke.

    Bummer.

I find that using the EPC system with your VIN will almost always get you the right color.

Here's the problem though: Toyota has discontinued some of the colors, so they'll send you whatever color they have in.

And btw, your color code is on your driver door sticker. Look at the C / TR value or whatever. Sticker is physically on the driver door, below the latch opening, jamb. Not the B-pillar, the actual door. Look for white sticker, with barcode, and your VIN on it.

That's why I've been hunting aftermarket: I was trying to avoid getting "MD.OAK". *sigh*

I did pull some of the codes from (I think) the EPC. This is the screen capture I have on hand.

FJ11 is the trim code. What part number does it give you in the system? What's the 2-digit letter/number suffix in the "ZZ" position? i.e. AAAAA-BBBBB-ZZ

Running your frame generically gives me the following for the passenger door. Note the "applicability" column, it contains the color by name.

My advice to you is to run each one of these thru Google Images until you find the part that kicks back the correct color. It's weird because that color you show looks MD.GRAY to me. Maybe MD.OAK if we go by those selections.

In reality, I'd expect it to be -B1 suffix, i.e. 69277-0C010-B1

But I can't say for sure. Weird EPC isn't kicking out the correct P/N.

Unfortunately, this is all I'm getting from EPC right now.

Thanks! I'm getting "429 Too many requests" from EPC right now, but I'll check later. I am hoping to avoid being forced to choose "MD.OAK", which I why I've been rolling the dice with aftermarket.

And it lives! Must’ve been a thermal shut off. The specs on mine can’t be matched by a Lasko box fan of today I see. 5700 CFM, wow.

    Got 'em:
69297B 69297-0C010-B1 BEZEL, ACCESS PANEL INSIDE HANDLE, RH MD.CHARCOAL,TRIM11
69298B 69298-0C010-B1 BEZEL, ACCESS PANEL INSIDE HANDLE, LH MD.CHARCOAL,TRIM11

...and (surprisingly) Serra Toyota in Birmingham says I can order them. Sweet, I'm set.

No, I wish. I just copied that from online when I read the tag on the manufacturer and model number.

You guys will probably abuse me a little for this one, but I did check the monster thread and a search. Are Toyota brake shoes worth the extra cash?

Actually they really aren’t much more expensive anymore for choosing the Toyota ceramic replacements. Paid $50 last time for them when the original semi-metallic ones went for $70-90.

Well, damn. For whatever reason, it didn't occur to me to check Toyota pricing. Paid $10 more than that for Bendix Premium 764 which, evidently, are organic pads. Worthwhile to swap them for the Toyota ceramics?

Interestingly enough, I did put Bendix ceramic pads on the front.

Did they say they'd be the right color or just that they could get them? Wonder if they'll be oak. The aftermarket ones with that cross-referenced part number called light gray matched the trim 11 charcoal color.
