Posting here as well to spread the information for those who stumble upon this thread.

FYI - I received PT45A-35240-PR today and can confirm that it is a TRD Light Bar switch with a white backlight (not blue)

Did Toyota stop making the part with a blue backlight? If not, does anyone have THAT part number?

Has anyone made further progress in wiring up an aftermarket light bar to the factory TRD switch? I saw the harness by @KClav but I’m trying to see if any additional new information has been discovered before proceeding.

Does anyone know if this part # is a toggle switch?

Thanks, unfortunately it looks like that harness isn't available on Aliexpress anymore. Just seeing if anyone else was able to find a pre-made one yet.

Also curious what the need for the self locking relay is? Sorry kind of an electrical newbie here.

Lastly, I was wondering if there is a way to build in the self locking relay into my existing Diode Dynamics wiring harness since the DD wiring harness includes a 4-pin relay already.

    Thanks for the help!

I’ve gone through this thread multiple times and I’m just lost in the sauce. Anyone have a video or care to break it down Barney style?

What exactly are you trying to do? Many of us use the OEM switch but there are countless ways to implement it

Thanks for the reply. I’m prepping everything right now. I’d like to use the OEM TRD Light bar switch with a BD S8. I’d also like for the switch to be dimmable. Just trying to keep everything to look as factory as possible.

What is BD S8? Does it allow you to dim the switch lights?

I got the Rave Of Road button and it's significantly brighter than OEM. I would like to dim it or switch it out with a different button. I have a platinum so I can't fit the OEM TRD button because of my running boards and step.

KClav's writeup up, which is a PDF attached to his post, is as Barney as it gets. The only difference here is that instead of running the 'switch illumination' where he said, you should T-Tap into the Purple & Brown wires on either the neighboring switches, or on the harness that is plugged into the blank that you're replacing.

In terms of the harness no longer being available - I'm not sure if there is a substitute - you can find the actual harness connector by googling '1747375-2 harness' but all require you to crimp and insert wires (that's what I did).

If that is the part you're stuck on I have an extra connector I could potentially make one for you.

Where else are you running into trouble?

Thanks for clearing that up. I’ve read the PDF a few times. I’m thinking about printing it out and having the wire shop at my job try to make one for me. No guarantees though. What pins did you use? What lengths on the wires? Not all lengths seem to be states or maybe I missed it.

I would definitely pay for a harness if I can get one.

I’m mounting a Baja Designs S8 20” light bar to the grille.

Well that's a bummer...I just bought some Rave switches as well lol. The OEM switch isn't a toggle switch is the problem. However the Tacoma has some "AUX" labeled switches that are toggle that my work better.

The connector I ordered comes with the pins - https://www.corsa-technic.com/item.php?item_id=2082

You would wire Pin 12 (switch illumination(+) Pin 12) to the purple wire inside of the dash & Pin 7 (switch illumination(-) Pin 7) to the brown wire inside of the dash - I can get a picture later.

I only put a 6" or so lead off of the harness, then used solder seal wire connectors (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083LZS69N) to hook up the longer wire runs (that go to the relays etc) and T-Taps (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLK7FK52) to hook to the switch illumination wires.

Is that Corsa connector the same one from the PDF write up?

can these wires be soldered instead of using a TTap? TTaps are just prone to failure after some time.

The corsa connector is not the same from the writeup - the one in the writeup is a pre-wired harness.

You could solder but that would require cutting & soldering the existing vehicle's wires.

I haven't had an issue with high-quality t-taps and I wouldn't be comfortable completely cutting & soldering my truck's wires. The ones I linked are high quality and very snug for the gauge they're designed for. It is up to you how you tap into those wires.
