My truck does the exact same thing. EVERYTHING is disabled, I am in tow mode, etc, and it will still sound crazy alarms and slam on the brake. And not just the emergency brake, it will somehow lock the drive train so I have to shut down the truck and restart it. I have a 7-pin connector so don't think this is the issue. Drives me insane.

There was one report of this where the dealer found one of the sensors on the rear bumper was bad. Replacing the sensor solved his issue.

No, I have it as well. First Toyota I've owned. I was told in the test drive the sensors can all be disabled. I was NOT told this was only disabled per drive and must be done every time. The backup sudden BRAKE is insane. Been driving 40 years zero accidents and my vehicle thinks it needs to brake for me. Stupid. I park in my garage. I have only 4-5 inches clearance front and back to squeeze the truck in. I get this BRAKE 95% of the time (sometimes it doesn't trigger). Very disruptive and I feel like it may damage the braking system over time. I've disabled to OFF all the settings as well. Still does this, no trailer.

This is another poorly thought out safety item. I back with my door open a lot. This Toyota doesn't let the truck move. Insane. All these sensors. I also drive in rush hour. The piercing beeps when someone slows and turns to the right in front of you and you totally have room to go behind them is terrible.

There has to be a trick to turn these incessant beeps off. This is the main reason I joined. Such a nice truck aside from these beeping sensors.

I back up so slow that i touch the brake and the truck is just barely allowed to move. Still does it.

I run into this with the tailgate down. Moving some stuff long enough to need tailgate down and she won't let you do it. Turned EVERYTHING off except the AC and nothing helped. Tried to fool it by rolling back in neutral and whiplash! No trailer, just tailgate down. This is stupid. Can I please back up to my garage with the tailgate open?

So I was able to solve this. I didn't see this in the manual but it was in the info card. There's a button left bottom of the steering wheel. IIRC last button on right on top row 2024 tundra that disables the brake sensor. It's been a few weeks and with this off it only triggered once, and i was backing up quickly. Sonit may engage if you're backing up quickly.but the other 40 times in reverse parking in my garage the brake slam and loud noise has not happened. Hope this helps

Yeah. That one LOL. Again, I still got the slam twice but that's it. The nice thing is it stays off unlike the autostart.

Turn the p cone setting off using the dash. I backed my 18 ft trailer into my hay barn and realized the rear parking sensors pick up the trailer and that’s what causes the breaks to lock up.

It’s actually the parking sensors that need turned off. Back a trailer up over 100 times in the last month not one lock up issue.

I have it permanently off. I've been driving accident free for 40 years. It's just more government telling us what's best for us.

I just tried a 7 pin to 4 pin, as the regular 4 pin doesn't automatically recognize the trailer. The 7 pin adapter doesn't also. Just turning off the parking sensors via the button doesn't work. I've found for a 4 pin trailer you have to set the trailer up manually in the dash and activate that trailer. This turns off the parking sensors (like via the button) but also turns off the rear cross traffic sensors (separate dash warning light from the regular parking sensors). This turns everything off like having the 7 pin connected and auto-detected. Any of these settings also have nothing to do with tow/haul mode.

How am I supposed to know when I’m close enough? I mean, cameras can only get you so close. Run it back at 5mph and wait for the brake!

Hmmm....all my trailers have 4-pin connectors. I've never set any of them up in the dash. I just turn the parking button on the dash off. My truck has never automatically slammed on the brakes, or given me any warnings, while backing up my trailers.

Exactly. My 10 ft utility is a 4 plug. Hooking it up turn off the rear traffic which is normal. You still have to go into the trailer setting and turn off the rear parking sensor,
Not the button to the left of the steering wheel, the actual icon in the dash display.

as long as thats turned off the breaks won’t automatically apply. I’ve hooked up to prolly a dozen different trailers and the only way I get the auto breaking non sense is when I forgot to disable that setting. Never turn the button off on the side of the dash.

Nope. The button on the dash is all you need to turn off to prevent the truck from braking while backing up a trailer. It has nothing to do with any of the trailer settings.

What’s odd in the owners manual it states when a 7 pin trailer is hooked up to it, it automatically turns off.

I’ve never turned that button off, wonder if I’m turning off the rear parking beeps and back up lines and it’s actually automatically turning off the intuitive parking assist since all I run is 7 pin trailers. Gotta test it with my 4 pin small trailer.

Only if you have Auto Trailer Detection (ATD) on. If it's off, you have to manually turn the Parking Support Brake button off. I leave ATD on.

Here's my every day dash display, except for the menu on the left. I usually have the fuel mileage display there.

As you can see, I have Intuitive Parking Assist off, because I hate all the warning buzzers and visuals. They are just distracting to me. I also have the Parking Support Brake (PKSB) off. That's the button on the dash with the car backing into a cone.

When I plug in a 4-pin trailer, the Rear Corner Traffic Alert (RCTA) light also appears on the dash. So, my truck auto detects the 4-pin trailer and disables the RCTA.

That's all I've ever done to tow a 4-pin trailer, which is what is on both of my boats and utility trailer. I've never had any problems with backing them up.

No, the truck transmission shuts to park which stops movement. It's aggravating, and one has to close the door in order to move again. When backing in tight quarters, I want to watch what's happening on the ground and move in and out the cab without having to shut the door.

Not ideal, but the workaround for your situation is, before you start moving, put the truck in park then back in reverse when you have the door open .

Ya when I turned on the parking sensor below the blind spot monitoring I can get the breaks to auto lock.

the button on the side of the dash didn’t matter, I needed to leave that parking sensor off and it works, weird.

This is really weird that people are having so many different things happening with the same truck, ours was built early 24. I have a small fifth wheel trailer that I of course have to have the tailgate down to hitch up. I can back up to it with both the tailgate down and the driver door open. When I get where the tailgate is just under the hitch I get out and plug in the seven pin connector then I am able to back up to where the tailgate is 4" from the trailer, I've done this dozens of time without a problem and I have never had any trouble backing the trailer either. I also have a 5x10 regular hitch dump trailer and I just turn the parking assist braking off when hitching up and again never had a problem. I also turn it off when using a hitch bike rack and haven't had any issues with that either. Both of my trailers have brakes so they both have seven pin connectors but turning off the braking assist should work the same for a trailer or a bike rack.
