Crickets from the shop, I assume until Monday.

I hate dealing with shops, asked the junk yard the blown motor came from for a refund, not optimistic.

Maybe...you did have a shop install it. Hopefully they can do something.

Nothing looks off with AFR, fuel trims are at like 2% across the board.

That's not a bad idea. Still doubt that fixes it. I've done times with 85 octane and you don't even have to pull this much timing.

For the overall small increase in pricing, it's one of those "while you're in there" decisions. For what has become a 1k HP build, the valves and springs were the only "upgrade" done over their standard build. Looking forward to seeing the block come together, too.

Something loose and rattling around? Drop a tool or bolt down in the valley that's bouncing around close to the knock sensors?

He says the chain tensioner makes a lot of noise and is going to send me a video. That sounds like a plausible source to trigger the knock sensors...

But it's pulling timing during the knock events?

All the red is timing being pulled. The difference from -3 is how much is pulled. My goal is the whole table reads -3, worst case -4 meaning one degree is pulled. This truck is pulling like 7-11deg all over the place constantly.

Ah I understand. I always think of the knock retard reducing the timing and knock feedback detecting knock. But I'm easily confused.

Highest I've ever seen was -7.5 at partial throttle on new tune, nothing over -4 on wot though.

No you're right, I just tend to group them together since from my understanding knock retard is more or less slaved to knock feedback. So while they're not necessarily one and the same, they change together, so you're always getting timing retarded if the knock feedback is below -3.

That makes sense. And then thats when I'd usually add some fuel in PE if trims are good. You said Air fuel is good but wonder how fuel pressure looks, which you've may probably already checked.

If yours and the stock Magnuson tune are showing the same exact issue, I would have to point at something going on beside tuning. I seen fuel quality mentioned already. So I’m sure the owner has made an attempt to get the correct fuel in by now. So at this point, if the correct fuel is in, it is def something mechanical. How is the truck running with both yours and the Magnuson tune minus the spark issue?
