Having a misfire but can't locate anyone with same problem

They can be a little spendy, but as long as you buy authentic, and a known-quality brand/OEM brand, this should be a “buy once, cry once” situation.

Get an O2 sensor crowfoot wrench for the job if you don’t have one.

Note the upstream can be a bitch to remove the sensors, to get a good angle, depends on your engine/drivetrain config. And the connector can be a bitch to pop off, depending on the same, on some trucks the passenger is a bit of a rubber-arm situation to get the connector free.

If you live in the rust belt, or even if you don’t, if they have any rust on/around them, start hitting them with penetrant now.

Note some O2 do require a gasket. I haven’t seen every truck’s setup and not sure if Denso comes with a basic gasket. I’ve mostly seen them on downstream in the exploded diagrams.

 

A bad common coil ground on that bank giving a weak spark could be a possibility. There’s a ground for each side of the 2uz-fe cylinder banks from what I see online.

Just installed and let the battery disconnect. Still same problem. I installed a denso

 

When it comes to possible electrical issues and due to different ground locations, it helps if you add either Access Cab(AC) or Double Cab(DC) to your profile. Even tho we know it's a 2UZ(V8), it wouldn't hurt to add that also for next time you might need assistance.

As for possible AC ground problem, all 8 coils meet at splice point E5, which is then connected to ground point EC

Possible ground problem but slim chance.

Beat me to it. Man it isn't easy searching through the FSM to find the grounding diagram.

Yeah, it's even harder when one doesn't have a 2004 FSM. For electrical, the EWD's do a better job with possible ground issue circuit hunting.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The brow is the ground to the coils? Could i run a ground from the coil to the ground on the firewall to if there's ground issue

We assume if you're on a Tundras forum, your 2004 is a Tundra. We assume also if it's a Toyota, because nobody else makes a Tundra.

If you could go HERE, and update the "Vehicle One-Line Description" field to something more descriptive - which includes your cab type (AC, RC, or DC), your engine type (V8 or V6), and the drivetrain (2WD / 4WD) it would help others here tremendously when trying to give you better, pointed advice.

Don't forget to click the "SAVE" button at the bottom of that screen after updating.

Here's an example of my truck's info, I'm letting people know the year, the cab type, which Trim level it is (Limited, yours may be SR5, or X-SP), and the engine/drivetrain type - this way, anyone can look at the FSM or an electrical diagram and immediately point me to the correct info for my truck. Because, understandably so, the wiring harnesses for 2WD differ from those of 4WD. Likewise, DC truck harnesses differ from what you'll find in an AC and even from an RC.

Just realized I forgot to add my example. We could really use to see the V8/4WD if that's what you got.

 

You could but what I meant to add earlier is that if you have a volt ohm meter, you could unplug all coils and measure Pin 1 brown of any of the suspect coils to ground. If you see a short to ground, then that coil has no ground problem.

When you were replacing the plugs, did you notice if the plugs themselves had a fuel smell ?.... spitballing Bank 1 coils have problem but injectors working.

Have you checked timing or did I miss that ?

 

I don't remember what either four came off of but I think there pretty clean for 200,000 miles. So your saying set it to ohms touch the brown with probe and touch a ground with the other probe.
No I haven't checked the timing yet

Ok just ohms tested all 4 and they .01

 

I read through that whole post. That was alot of chasing down probabilities. I just replaced my 02 sensor before the cat with a denso got it from autozone. I have tried disconnecting it to see what it does if it still keeps coding

 

Extra work for you but in case it's the autozone O2, swap with passenger side and see what codes do.

Your resistance readings say ground is intact for Bank 1

 

That's what I was thinking. Drivers easy haven't checked pass on how easy.

 

Quick Q should I remove this and clean the inside. I noticed all the oil around it. That hose goes to the pcv valve

 

You can also check the grounding of the 02 sensor harness connector on the driver’s side to make sure it has good continuity.
