What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Yep, couple thousand miles. It never gave any indication. Spotted it as I was moving back to front doing inspections and repairs. I only have this one a year now and at 84, while I can still do the work, I can't do it as fast or for as long a stretch so it takes a while. The struts took one 4 hr day each. The bitch was the stab links. But,,, it keeps me going.

Not many people can do this sort of stuff in their 80s. My father could and was changing out shocks up until a year before he passed just recently at the age of 87.

Even when he’d help me out, he rather crawl underneath to do the job then taking the time to explain it to me.

 

I see a lot of people every day and I’ll tell you what - it’s amazing what continuing to move will do for your health. 65 yr olds with walkers don’t stand a chance against a healthy 85 year old. If you rest, you rust.

 

Couldnt agree more! Our family mechanic just finally officially retired at 91 years old! He always told me if he stopped hed just be at home watching tv getting overweight.

Man I have a client that’s 60 something years old. Still runs marathons and dude was climbing all over his pergola onto his roof. I was flabbergasted.

 

Mine came with 245's and the patricks. Could have been changed by the PO though.

Yeah, I'm just saying when I ordered them online 265s were not an option unless I switched my vehicle to 2WD.

 

Cleaned up the engine bay, and skid plate. Skid plate was coated with basically soft asphalt - oil and dust. Scraped it off with a plastic scraper and scrubbed with dish soap, then gave the outside a coat of wd 40. And now I’ll be able to actually see oil leaks. Valve covers are so much cleaner. Not a detail job but for free in an hour, not too bad. And the best part about Texas summer - just leave it in the driveway with the hood open and it’ll be dry in 20 seconds.

 

I agree. I thought my rears were bad with rusted away dust shields, but that's the main cylinder

 

There's a way to order whatever size you want on their website but it always takes me like 15 mins to figure out how and I never seem to remember it haha

Our schedules haven't been exactly lining up. He's gonna ship them to me at this point.

 

Replaced spark plugs today. Truck is new to me with about 133k and no history of spark plugs, so wanted to go ahead and replace them. Seeing the old ones I felt good about it.

The old ones were NGK BRK6EGP platinum plugs and I went with the iridium ones. Old ones were finger tight at best, and a few were quite gunked up.
