Went out in the heat and tried out that Milwaukee m18 variable speed die grinder. Pretty good for a battery operated device.

Unfortunately not as good as a quality compressor. I may need to take the angle grinder and some abrasive pads to the steel ramps to get them 100% free of rust. A wire wheel can only dig in so much. May try the cup next but past experience tells me it doesn’t do as well as the wire wheel.

Mine says 245s as well, but I always had 265s with patricks on it. Weren't 245s only on steelies?

Pretty sure. The steelies are 7” & the patricks are 7.5”.

Not sure of that, I'm just a newb here . But I can say this, when I was shopping for my tires, putting in my year and specs (2000/sr5/4.7/4x4) it ONLY gave me 245s as an option "standard". By switching just the drive from 4x4 to 2WD gave me the 265s option.
That had me wondering if they (Discount Tire) would even install 265s on mine because their fine print said something like "we will only install tires that were designed for your specific vehicle". I ordered and paid for them online.... so I just put in 2WD so I could get the 265s.

On a side note, since I got the tires I've had an opportunity to check my mpg on a 60 mile round trip to town. About 30 miles of dirt roads 25-30-35mph, and 30 miles of paved, 50-55mph. Using +3.7% for the 265s, I actually got 14.8mpg!!!
I know its not all due to the tires but amazing anyway... OH, and she's kicked a P0430 on the return trip both times hahaha. Mind Blown:eek2:

That's weird. Must be a new thing. I had discount put my 255x85r16s on, but I just took them the wheels to do it.

Discount put the same on mine, 255 85 16s. They had no hangups about installing on my truck either.

I absolutely hate that. BJs warehouse is the exact same way and refuse to install any size tire other than what’s on the door jamb.

YET, if you got a limited tundra it came with starfish alloys as part of the standard configuration so the door jamb is updated with 265 tires. SMH

I've had them install 33x12.5s on both the YJ and the TJ, but that was years ago. I will say that when I had the Ram 1500, they refused to install only 2 tires stating that the 2 I wanted to replace didn't match the other 2 (brand and model) so I was able to haggle and bought 4 for the price of 2. Again, years ago. I do my own tires now and have for the last 10 years, but I'm the exception as the majority of you do not have access to a tire machine.

It happened to a friend of mine at Walmart too. They refused to install the tires he wanted even though they were an upgrade over factory specs.

Happened to me at Walmart also. Refused to put a different size on the vehicle that wasn’t what was either on there now, or on the door jamb.

There are some tools that make those easy, if they're stuck. This got mine out in about 10 seconds, after multiple tries with allen key, heat, cold chisel.

If you get to this menu when you add your vehicle, you should be able to add an 'optional' custom size. I ordered my last set of tires online through DT because they had a rebate.

Woof! Mine wasn't near that bad. After a lil heat and tapping the 10mm Allen socket in, jack up front for more leverage/ room it came out. I thought for sure it was gonna strip, bleed me and shit would go flying. Fuck those plugs!

The factory door sticker on my 02 AC LTD 4x4 4.7 L says 26/29 F/R. I have never owned a vehicle with such low factory tire pressure specs. I don't do much hauling, so I try to keep the pressures at 30/30 just for my sanity.

Sweet. My camper has Goodyear trail terrains on it. Be nice for someone else to deal with flats. I’ve not had one on a trip with it, so hopefully never need it.

Oh, so that's what that bolt is supposed to look like (this was the better of the two bolts connecting the hitch to the reinforcement)

Today is front struts day. The first 2 pics below are from the driver's side. Note the broken spring. According to the repair records back in 2016 a dealer replaced both front left & right CV axles, upper & lower ball joints, lower control arms, sway bar links, and the driver's side outer tie rod. I'm going to go out on a limb and and say methinks there was a LBJ failure and I think maybe the spring was cracked then but went unnoticed. What is just as troubling, however, is the strut. That baby has chunks missing.

Finally fixed my trailer plug that I bashed off over a stump. I’m not really doing much towing but I replaced the old 7 prong with a 4 prong. Didn’t know it would be a 4 prong when I ordered it, but it works out because that’s probably the only trailer I’d end up towing anyway. It’s nice and discreet. I like it. See below before and after.

Also cleared my p0430 code by driving around so that’s good. Gonna add some cataclean at the end of this tank of gas for good measure. Weird that it happened in conjunction with the valve cover gasket swap…

And tightened my suspensionmaxx sway bar links. A lot. The popping noise when going over bumps or turning in the rain has continued since I put on my lift. Last few days it has been doing it in the dry too. So I tightened them down like a normal bushing situation. I remember the instructions saying not to tighten them too much, so I did that, but it seems weirdly loose. Whatever. If I have to buy new bushings in a year cause I screwed these up, I’m fine with it.

Wiped off some oil and grease underneath from all the mods and maintenance I’ve done lately. And I’ll probably do the engine bay later today. I think I’m just gonna go hose and dish soap and brushes.
