I would look at the geometry behind the fender to inform your decision otherwise you'll end up with decorative nonfunctional vents. Even modded out like your mock up I don't think those will move as much air as some of the other things that have been suggested. The hood spacer is probably the cheapest and reverse-able.

Finished up my hoses and filled with 9qts oil, details are below:

Modified GX460 1UR 4.6 V8 oil filter bracket
Vibrant 10AN PTFE hose - 41.5" - ~7oz capacity
Earls 419 Oil Cooler - 0.4qt capacity
Improved Racing Thermostatic Oil Filter Housing (160* open)
Wix 51085 filter
Haltech pressure sensor with remote mount line
engine oil adapter (Vibrant 10AN hose end 90* with 8AN ORB end) out to oil filter housing (Fragola Swivel 10AN 90*) - 7.5"
oil filter housing (Vibrant 10AN hose end 90*) out to oil cooler bottom port (Vibrant 10AN hose end 45*) - 10.5"
oil cooler top port (10AN Male to Female Sensor adapter, Vibrant 10AN hose end90*) back to oil filter housing (Vibrant 10AN hose end 45*) - 17.5"
oil filter housing (Fragola Swivel 10AN 90*) to engine oil adapter (Vibrant 10AN hose end90*, 10AN to 8AN ORB Sensor adapter, Vibrant 10AN hose end 90*) - 6"


**Extended horn wiring for mounting to cooler bracket, and cut out some bits from the side of my fan shroud to make room for hoses coming through from the oil cooler

Those fender pics reminded me….. For those with large supercharger coolant reservoirs, dual batteries, etc, that might need a normal sized windshield washer reservoir, the Land Cruiser 200 rezi will fit behind the fender on the Tundra. Here are the old mock up photos, some small brackets to pick up the mounting points will hold it in place.

It’s roughly 1 gallon.

 

It also has multiple pump mounting locations and a fluid level sensor.

 

Ok. 1.5 to 2gal would be great.

 

Toyota says 4.8 liters or 1.26 gallons. A custom tank for that spot could easily hit 2 gal.

Is that the passenger or driver side? I’m assuming you have to take the outer fender off to mount it in there?

 

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know if that tank is below the intake level, but at least it's lower than the truck bed.

Drivers side mount. Think it's called the headlamp cleaner jar. Part 85315-60350

 

The fuck it is!

To swap out starters is a six hour job...even if you have a lift.

I just did it. The right axle has to be removed for room to drop the starter. Heat shields, tranny coolant lines are only part of the issue to remove the starter.

On the plus side, the replacement starter is physically smaller, so install is slightly easier...slightly.

 

I just pull the passenger header/mid pipe and it comes out throught the fender wheel opening. Hardest part is getting the header back in. Replaced it 4 times since 2012. One was an aftermarket failure.

 

With Michigan salt, we never risk removing more fasteners than we need...could turn into a total engine removal quite quick.

 

Nothing like finishing grocery shopping and you go to start and click...no start. Then the dread sets in with what's involved not that you need a tow and your ice cream is melting!

I left all the hoses hooked up but did the "pull the solenoid" trick.

 

Would work fine with the turbo then. Maybe one day if I run into an issue with the tank in the bed.

 

Yes, it mounts drivers side. The 85315-60350 is the bare tank, comes with little else for $117 retail. The 85355-60180 is $129 retail and comes with the level sensor, two washer pumps (front and rear), and the wire harness. It’s a MUCH better value, those washer pumps and sensor are relatively expensive when purchased individually. The filler neck is also required 85301-60060.

 

Yup, that's the way I do them. Not to bad at all.
Can be done in a couple of hours or less if all goes well .
If the exhaust fights you from corrosion, yup, it'll take quite a bit more time.. But there's very little corrosion here...
