Having issues on 2000 tundra 4.7, I can dig into all the details but not getting power to the solenoid on the starter and not sure what else to check. Battery good, new starter after having truck sit all winter, old starter was bad, completely corroded. Relay checked and working, fuses under hood and in cab seem to be good after replacing, had the 40 am1 was blown and also 5amp mini under dash, getting power to starter but nothing to the solenoid any ideas my friends

    First, welcome.
Second, what electronics are installed aftermarket?
Third, is there any water intrusion of the cab that you are aware of?
Fourth, if you do not already have these, get a copy of the Field Service Manual HERE and copy of the wiring diagram HERE. These will become useful. Also, read through THIS THREAD to see why I asked my first 2 questions.

Light bar that isn’t hooked up not even the wiring harness because it’s shared with my off-road truck. I just pulled glovebox out don’t think I need to even look any further there’s corrosion all over the plugs.. we had a very weird mild winter up here, was freezing and thawing and raining which is most unusual instead of being/staying cold. Judging by looking at that and how badly corroded my starter was along with having a weird electrical issue last year I think that this thing is done for.. it’s the corrosion that’s probably in the wiring at this point. Already had to convert to 2wd after Grenada 3rd diff last year just getting to be too much with all the other quirks. What a bummer this makes me sad

It sat for 9 months this winter which I’m sure didn’t help with the unusual winter, was running/driving last summer

    Oh.

Thats kinda important detail there, friend.

You are aware of the major rodent issues with these trucks right?

They love to nest on top of the gas tank and chew up the hoses, wires and plastics.

They love to get in the dash via the cowl, passenger side, and chew up ECM wiring and nest in the dash.

They love to get into the air box via the cold air passthru of the fender, chew up the air filter and nest in there.

On the V8, they love to nest under the intake manifold, chew up the starter wiring, and knock sensor wiring.

So we ask you now, maybe the most important question: What have you done so far to rule out rodents at at play here?

Have you removed the glovebox to look behind the dash at the ECU wiring, and dropped the blower motor up under the glovebox area?

Have you popped out your air filter to look for chew evidence?

Have you gotten a telescoping mirror on a stick and flashlight to look on top of the gas tank?

Have you gotten a flashlight to look the both sides of the silver intake (the runners between the feet) to peek for signs of nesting?

I have the glovebox apart, intake plen is off, I’ve looked into airbox before I started messing with everything else, I haven’t checked ontop of fuel tank but don’t really have problems with those lil basterds around here, I’ve had interior leaks for years though and judging by how bad my starter was corroded when I took apart (even my local Toyota shop was like wtf) and all the corroded connectors on the ecu I think the weird winter we had up here kinda finished everything off, I’m not giving up yet but from local shop round here said same thing with the corroded stuff, I think I’m chasing my tail. I had to disassemble the front cvs last year to make it full 2wd after 3rd diff and it has lots of other little leaks under truck and issues I’m just not sure what to do, it only has 240 on it but I think the leaks and the freeze thaw rain that don’t usually happen in winter took its toll bad on the truck. Was also having strange missfire codes and others last summer (maybe starting to get corrosion?) that would randomly happen even though it didn’t seem like it was running bad at all I’ve owned this truck for close to 15 years and have had gone through coil issues and whatnot. I’m leaning towards the computer issue but with all the leaks with the winter (btw mold inside truck as well, I know f me) I’m not too optimistic about it at the moment. We get wetness in summer where I live in Ak but never been much of an issue, I’ve looked at all this stuff before an never seen as much corrosion on a vehicle after sitting for a relatively short period of time. The celica supra that I owned sat for 10 years without running with the sunroof cracked open I might add, and nothing looked as bad as this wiring on the truck.. F global warming damn you Al gore haha. Sorry I’m just not having a good day my destroyed chevys sitting in driveway with 2nd blown tranny along with everything else, off-road truck needs clutch and front axle rebuilt I’m down to my Corolla that desperately needs struts and some other work, I’m about to go buy a 06 manual taco for another temporary/permanent, be my 12th vehicle I think I’ve owned in my short 35years of life
