I am somewhat in the similar consideration, prior we Had Honda Pilot and Tundra, Pilot died in Albuquerque, NM, so wife got a '24 Venza Hybrid.
While the Tundra is now THE family road trip vehicle, being 2WD, it sometimes makes me think a few more times when taking winter trips, especially where it might snow/sleet/whatever else the hell there is...

So, I have been looking (hint: LOOKING) for a AWD Hybrid SUV, that can be better MPG for daily commute (~55 miles round trip daily) and also spacious enough for long road trips, especially where weather is a concern.
Wife did mention wanting a Lexus, possibly TX500h, but others have said it, it is basically Grand Highlander MAX Hybrid, just not as nice and quiet, since Lexus does have better sound proving...

Cheap as possible: 6 speed manual 2015 or 2016 Scion TC. Basically a lighter, 2dr, much more fun to drive Camry with a manual.
Otherwise newest Camry without a CVT I could afford.

Honda Accord 6-6 (3.5 V6 with 6-speed manual). I had a 2008 Coupe in Belize Blue. Loved that car!
    or...
VW GTI. Gen 5 and up are truly nice driving cars that are very nice for daily use. I had a 1.8T 4th gen and love that one too.

I had an IS250 AWD. It really was a nice car. However, the sticky dash was NASTY and the direct injection issues killed that car for me. Didn't kill the car but made me not want another.

That is exactly why I went with the IS350. The IS250 had some issues and not enough power for my liking. 300+ hp was required.
