Thought my truck sprung a leak. Turns out it was just some frame gravey. AKA Fluid Film. This was the first hot day that I've driven it a bunch and it tends to liquify in the heat.

Picked up a 1st gen tundra recently to replace my 1st gen tacoma. The truck had a sound system some decent parts but whoever did the installation definitely did a hack job. We decided to spruce up the door panels while they were off since the vinyl was worn out and the speaker grills rusty. Rusty speaker grills anyone seen that? I have a few theories mostly water leaks in the cab I found two the drain hoses for the sunroof are not going through the floor and out the truck they seem to be short or a piece missing anyone have any idea? I fixed the wiring and routed it through the wiring harness rubber so that should stop any water leaks from the doors and the shorted amp wires. They actually lost the screws for two of the woofer terminals snd stuff some bigger pointy wood type screws in there… unfortunately it damaged the pcb board beyond repair and I had to switch the wiring for the woofer up a bit. Yes that’s right the glued the speakers into place! We will be making custom brackets for the speakers to be secured properly. Does anyone have any idea how the drain lines for the sunroof go out of the truck? I was thinking of just extending them.

That tube at your finger is the drain hose that should go even further downward so it exits at bottom of truck. The Moonroof has 2 in each corner of the front and they exit down the A pillar. There are 2 in back that head to C pillar and head downwards. At least that is how my 04 DC LTD is.

I figured that's what they are, however it has no slack to be pulled down any further. im not sure if someone previously cut it or not or if they removed some sort of fitting that extended it to be able to pass through the chassis. on some other vehicles they have a fitting.

@455h0le_dachshund sorry for the late response, yeah I drilled and tapped my solos, no other modification needed; just make sure you center them between the bushings and don’t forget the rear has a different spacing so don’t do it in the center…..like I did

Oh ya the backup camera is an upgrade but the screen's brightness is off and it's really hard to see anything. We've tried adjusting it without success. However, I work with it, and I can usually get hooked up to the two trailers faster than without it. I plan to upgrade it at some point. Also the radio doesn't receive well but it's a work truck, radio smaydio.

Another mowing day. Again towing the 18 foot trailer but this time with two zero turns on it.

It looks like the Tundra will get to pull the mini tractor and likely a rented dump trailer next fall. Client had a big freaking limb fall off a rotting tree and no one seems to want the "firewood." I told her if she still had it next fall, we'd cut it up and haul it off.

I'll have to get the tractor serviced and check on dump trailer rentals but we can do it.

Oh I never watched it. I just YouTube searched how to get grease in a clogged zerk and came across it. Previous owner didn’t grease the driveshaft so it was all gunked up. This got it all working again so I could use the grease gun.

Maybe I just don't have a great spatial grasp on that storage area.... but how are you getting that in and out?
I've, in my head tried to picture it and I'm coming up blank.

Well, the honeymoon ended yesterday when I brought out the 3lb sledge and went to working over the drivers wheel well. Tooling around the property with the new tires I had a rub when the wheel was somewhat stuffed. Laid the seam flat, and folded the lower part of the fender in 1/2". As many of you know my truck experienced a Hard front drivers impact. The cab sits wonky and there is a slight buckle in the frame... so the passengers side has a lot more room/no rub. The steel studs I used to rebuild my rockers are holding out amazing though, very little if any rust . Cleaned up with some Polyurethane caulking, white Rustolium X2 paint, and some fluid film. It was a brutal process, I didn't take pictures, so this is all "Alleged" work.:notsure:
Also picked up my license to go break shit :thumbsup:

Lift the carpet, remove the storage cubby frame. The frame is just bolted in.

Sorry I'm late to the party. It's more likely that the valve in the zerk is stuck and the grease you see is oozing out of the gun nozzle. Take a thumb tack and push against the zerk to open and free it. Also make sure your gun nozzle is properly adjusted to fit tight against the zerk.
Yes, once they have been loosened.

The JBL system in these trucks is kinda wonky, that may be some of the reasoning behind the hackery. There’s a lot of stupid shit with the factory amp, the OEM speaker impedances (two smaller speakers in front door are 4ohm, larger front speaker 2ohm, rear door 2ohm), ao there’s no really clean way to go about upgrade, aside from adapting to keep the factory nap; or bypass the amp and update the speakers. Can speak a LOT on this topic, though quite a few threads already exist on it.

Meanwhile, those OEM grilles. Smearing naval jelly on both sides for 10-15 mins then spraying off with water will clear that up and have them looking new, keeping the paint intact usually. Or give them a premium look by applying speaker fabric over them (good hosier works in a pinch). But what you did looks good too.

And they replay the original grease cleanup at the end? Wtf?

    Which head unit?

Transmission Mount Bolts replaced. Couldn’t see any cracks in the crossmember and decided to replace the remaining 3 bolts while replacing the one that was missing. I didn’t have access to a torque wrench but lets just say since the TSB said to increase torque- I went with very, very snug….lol. These bolts were an exact match BTW.IMG_0851.jpg IMG_2197.jpg

PS - I didn't realize Q-logic also made kick panels for our trucks. I wish they made properly angled A-pillar molds to add tweeters to the A-pillar to help with correcting the sound stage for highs (w/o adjusting timing), but having the mids poorly angled down in the door isn't exactly great either. I wonder how nicely these would play with Whethertech floor mats? (typo intentional, fuck those guys)
