its the wife daily driver, she pays for it so its her call. we are hoping toyota brings back a lighter shade of blue again and we are swapping our 23 for a new plat tundra.

i prefer 4Runners, never did care for trucks. she was hooked on toyota trucks ever since i got her first one.

    she had

    87 Cressida
    89 Toy Truck 2wd
    91 Cressida
    93 Paseo
    06 Taco AC v6
    09 Rav4 v6
    12 Taco DC v6
    16 Taco DC Sport
    18 Tundra CM Platinum 5.5ft 4x4
23 Tundra CM Platinum 5.5ft 4x4 Non Hybrid

she hated the years she didnt have a truck, but after getting the 2012 tacoma she refused to go back to anything but a truck

I have the same issue with my 2023 limited non-hybrid that was manufactured in 22. My complaint of parking overnight on an incline with a 3/4 full tank and starting it up the next morning to have a full tank reading fell on deaf ears. I made multiple complaints to two different dealerships regarding this issue only to be told that it is "normal" or have the service personnel tell me about how it happens to other manufacturer vehicles. I really dislike it when a concern is underplayed by a service writer or tech... I started to park my truck on the (level) street to avoid the issue since it became a regular annoyance.

Only recently since it has been snowing in Ohio I started to park the truck on the driveway to avoid being hit by a snow plow and have been using my odometer as my gauge to fill up since the fuel tank has been misreading again now that I am parking on an incline.

Somewhere on this forum, I read the 2024 and newer models had two fuel tank sensors, whereas 22 and 23 models only had one. (I believe it was a post by Ryan Gregg before he was banned). I am not sure if anyone can verify that? If this is true and 2024 models are still having this issue, it seems like the software issue has not been fixed.

Rumor was 2024’s were getting two sensors but it never happened. This has been an issue since day one so I wouldn’t get any hopes up for Toyota to fix it. I read on FB that 2025’s are doing it as well.

My late 2024 had this issue as well. As usual the dealer initially said they never heard of it before but eventually they changed the fuel sending unit. So far it’s been good.

Yes, that two sensor comment was someone’s idea for a fix. It never happened and 24’s all have the same issue. I’m convinced it’s a software issue.

I can confirm in my case that this b̶u̶g̶ feature only happens when the truck is parked on an incline with the nose up. I am thankful that that I don't have to pay 5.99 monthly to use my gauge cluster though.

Updating the thread with another record: 2024 Limited (built date: 8/24) with 7,300 miles. Noticed today abnormally positive DTE and almost full tank of gas, despite already driving almost 200 miles since last fill-up. While the truck lives on a flat driveway at home, we did park over the weekend at the friends' house that was indeed on an incline (nose was up). I suspect that that was a trigger.

Did successfully performed the reset (ODO button worked on the digital cluster). Will keep an eye out; hoping for this to be an isolated incident (with no official fix as of yet). While annoying I am trying not to get super upset about: as long as I remember to clear the TRIP A/TRIP B counter, I should be ok as far as the range goes and when to fill up next in order to avoid getting stranded.

My 2024 has the same build date. I’ve had no issues since the dealer changed the fuel sending unit under warranty.

Just updating. 2025 TRD Pro Hybrid build date 02/25 just happened. Was at gas station, put 10 gallons in, fuel gauge did not move. Tried all the rest techniques no luck. To the dealer it goes.

Quick update. After driving for about 20 miles I stopped and did the fuel reset again, press odometer button and start button twice. Fuel gauge reset.

I have only had this fuel gauge problem once or twice in a few years, then in the last month it has been giving me fits. The trick of turning it off in D isn’t working anymore. Had to pull the negative off the battery. The latest one “added” a little less than a 1/4 tank, I was just up in the woods and got to thinking if you weren’t paying much attention, this could really bite you if you were in the boonies.

Was there a software update or something? I've had this happen maybe once in the last 1.5 years and now it's happened my last two fill-ups.

Got my 2024 tundra new feb 2024. First fuel gauge malfunction i noticed was may 2024 and problems disappeared around October and now it's acting up few days ago may 2025. To me this issue is more noticeable in the summer for some reason. Few days ago I had 5/8 of tank but couldn't remember when I filled up last and don't trust my fuel gauge so I did the reset/calibration trick. That brought the gauge to exactly 3/4 of a tank. So I am confused do I have 5/8 of a tank of fuel or 3/4 of a tank of fuel? Does this imply our fuel gauges don't have the ability to display real world fuel levels? I saw someone posted the tsb update coming soon and it said "this tsb will reduce the likelihood of the fuel gauge malfunctioning" have they given up completely on this issue lol

Toyota bought my 2024 tundra for this issue. Now looking for 2025 but would like to know if it is fixed?

It has been acknowledged twice now as @Pine_Cone67 mentioned.

T-SB-0038-25 was issued to hopefully deal with it once and for all.

In my situation, no hill, was at a gas station, filled up tank, no movement on the fuel gauge.

Toyota opened a case for me and said someone would reach out to me. After a year, when Toyota corporate didn't reach out to me, I started to call them myself and was told by Toyota that engineers are working on a fix. Toyota advised not to park on a hill, and not to fill my gas tank often. The issue started to get worse, where speed bumps also triggered the gas to mark full while driving. How crazy is that?

In California we had those wildfires and in the event of an emergency I need to get my truck and valuables and leave. That is the reason I fill often but truck shouldn’t have this problem. I did a lemon law but now looking to getting a new truck. Ford f150 has engine and trans problem. Chevy has engine and trans problems as well. Ram hurricane engine don’t trust. The best option is the gas problem I think.

Haven’t seen anyone report it actually worked. Won’t be getting it downloaded til my Svc appt end of the month. Last TSB for this did nothing. (It seemed to address something different with the digital dashes)

It was an update to the combination meter for both oil pressure gauge and fuel tank level.

The simplest way to get the right reading is to turn off the vehicle. Not that anyone ask but while car is off hold the trip meter then turn on the car and gage will indicate the correct reading. Easy to deal with but a nuanced to own a 65k with a stupid problem like this.

    or lemon law the car.
Take the car 4 times for the same problem after repair wasn’t done ask Toyota corporate to buy back. They, do reduce the amount of money you get back, depending on when you took the car in for that specific problem. For example I took it in at 2800 and was charged 1500 from my entire contract.

I’m not a lawyer just sharing my experience.
