I just installed mine this afternoon. Disappointed that the factory USB/Aux no longer works with the Sony. Had to pull it all apart again to install their 3rd party USB plug into one of the 'blanks' next to my factory USB.

Then come to find out that this unit doesn't work with an iPod via USB. Wish I'd known that ahead of time.

Wired or wireless - CarPlay in this unit will only do one or the other. That's dumb. Anyway, I prefer wired for better sound clarity and stable connectivity.

After this, and doing the TGP Kicker speaker bundle for my '11 CrewMax earlier ... I can honestly say I'm unimpressed with the results. Oh well ... no going back now. Gotta live with it.

Yep, gonna have to live with it. When I put my truck in Reverse, the screen blanks out and says "No video camera detected"

Awesome! Can't wait to discover what other little disappointing surprises this system offers LOL.

Anybody figure out how to operate the 0-60MPH timer? That'd be kinda fun ... if it actually worked.

Via the Settings menu I can turn off camera settings so my screen doesn't blank out when I put the truck in reverse. User error on my part.

No amount of EQ fiddling seems to overcome the fact that OEM just sounded better and louder - there's no bass 'punch' with this setup. My ears don't lie.

If I hadn't tossed the OEM speakers in the garbage, I'd probably put them back in.

For an investment of around $1700 I am completely unimpressed.

I found a video where the creator was talking about EQ settings from a basic standpoint, nothing to do with this head unit in particular.

He said that generally speaking, EQ settings need to form a kind of "smile" pattern and then can be fine-tuned from there based on user preference.

Spending time with the unit listening to various songs with every 'stock' EQ setting (i.e. Rock, Pop, Dance, Jazz, etc.) I came to the conclusion that they all sound anemic and crappy.

I set up a profile under Custom 1 that more or less mimics the EQ settings featured in his video, and to my ears, it's an improvement. Not perfect, but much better than stock EQ profiles. Again, this is in conjunction with the TGP Kicker bundle (front, rear, and 2 dash tweeters) and my iPhone/CarPlay via wired connection to USB.

Haven't played around with the parametric EQ because I don't know WTF I'm doing yet.

    Here's a screenshot FWIW:

Great info on here about the Sony 9500es. I purchased my unit from trailgridpro.com like some of the members on here have mentioned. Easy install, nice features. I bought their front facing camera and plan to add a 3rd camera in the bed or on back of my camper trailer.

I would not have bought this unit if I knew it didn’t support screen mirroring for iPhone. Dumb assumption on my part.

I bought the hdmi to RCA adaptor and was unable to get it to work. Head unit kept saying no signal. I tried different power blocks, cables, configurations with RCA’s on the unit ect with no luck.

I’m going to return the adaptor and try a different one. If that doesn’t work I’ll just mount an iPad mini for video playback, offline maps, ect.
