They turn on when you push the factory remote unlock button. You can set how long they will stay lit using Techstream, and they came stock in the 2nd gen Platinum.

I’m considering retrofitting a pair of the Bright trax V4 puddle lights on to a SR5. Is there any reason why the Ford kit wouldn’t work for this retro?

I’m looking at their website with a side by side pic of the Ford and Toyota lights and the lens on the Ford looks like a perfect circle while the Toyota looks more egg shaped.

I’m planning on drilling a circle big enough for the lamp to fit into the bottom of the housing, then Dremel off the mounting tabs and securing it from inside the mirror housing with JB Weld.

The only other issue I can see is the light not fitting perfectly flush with the housing because it will be surface mounted and not sunken in a bit like factory.

Can any of our Electrical Wizards confirm or deny whether the Limited has the wires already in the mirror connection? I can see the round area where surgery could be performed in the bottom of the mirror.

Not sure. They're not serviceable without cutting them open.

Does someone have a DIY video on how to pop off the puddle lamps? I have new LED bulbs but I'm hesitant to start popping off the mirror etc. Or does the light assembly pop off like the Ford's do?

Tilt the mirror up, you'll see the tabs holding the puddle lights in. Poke at the tab with a plastic tool and the light drops right out.

All good. Just pushing your buttons. You will find a lot of information on this site by just searching believe it or not. Happy w the lights? Another trick is to program it through techstream to stay on longer. I have mine set at 30 seconds. Factory is 7.5.

Guys - Any suggestions where to buy new puddle lamps assemblies? I'm going to go with LEDs versus the OE product. I live in Wisconsin and was popping these off and the little plastic tab that holds them in place broke off. I now need to replace the complete puddle lamp assembly (both sides) versus the light bulb inside the plastic assembly. I live in Wisconsin and was doing this with the temps were in the 20s. Plastic is brittle when temps are in the 20s.

Personally, I would (and did) purchase the ones in the first post. They are the whole assembly and are LED. I don't believe you can replace just the bulb on any of the brands for these lights without cutting into the lens.

    Puddle and cargo lights.....

I ordered the same one from same seller and it didn't fit. Housing was slightly too small and would not clip onto my mirrors. The lense wasn't glued/secured properly onto the housing. I emailed seller and he gave me a full refund. Junk if you ask me.

Don’t waste your time buying cheap ones from China on EBay. Takes about 2 weeks to ship and in my case, it didn’t fit.
