Mod advice 2016 SR5 DC new to me

View was great, but it put the seat a little too far back for me and I felt like I was reaching for the pedals.

Quality seemed good and install was simple

@Red-Barn I added this to my truck and couldn't be happier. As a safety note though, the oem switch will reverse if your hand, a dogs paw or anything hits the window while closing to prevent the window smashing the obstruction. Unfortunately, this switch, or any after market switch, does not have that safety feature. It works great if you are aware of this while using it though. https://ebay.us/m/NgAGpD

That looks worth trying for price. No kids and dogs usually would ride in topper. Think for rear I would fab some protective covers for switches just in case

 

The switch I linked is only for the drivers side so all other doors would remain oem. I do know if you want auto switches for all doors there are other kits available. If dogs are in the back seat you could also lock the switches from the drivers sider master panel if you did end up getting the whole set.

 

Guess I'll be ok only changing drivers window switch

 

The way I figure it, the driver is the only one who "needs" an auto up switch. The passengers can suffer through the first world problem of having to hold that switch til the window is up.

I haven't sorted out the headlights yet. Maybe oem 2019 pro is good enough but need to know other options/light configurations.

 

Get a quality LED and you'll be happy. If you don't go oem these are the 2 brands I would be looking at.

Wonder if plug n play only for trucks w/ existing LED lights? Unclear if wire harness needed or resistors etc

 

It will be plug and play with the resistors already in the wiring harness they supply. I also have the head and tailight combo from them. This is the same eBay store I bought from. Different tail light then the one linked above but I'm sure you can find what you want if you look around more.

I think I would prefer clear lenses with black so to speak vs smoked lenses. maybe they have that option. The DLR's seem bright.

 

DRL's are bright. I really like mine.

Circling back to answer this, I am pretty sure these are just like my original 2017 SR5 halogens that have amber bulbs as DRLs. So DRL yep, but not LED strips

OK I have the 2016 SR5 now. Looking at center section from climate controls back to armrest is there a replacement kit for the whole darn thing? The kits I've seen so far are made up of bits an pieces. What else is out there?
Bits are ok for steering wheel, door handles and door armrest trim.

Before I tear dash apart to install new head unit what else should I have ready to go to do at same time? Later install prep wiring or whatever?

 

If you want to install auto headlights, the light sensor is installed in the dash and it’s easy get to from underneath with the radio out. Pretty much plug and play. You will have to purchase a new headlight switch though.

 

It does match my 2012 interior black. I know they also sell a satin black. Haven't seen it in person though.

You have young kids, I wouldn’t use the auto up switch. When you buy a Toyota with auto up windows there is a built in safety that if something is caught in the window they will automatically reverse. There were injures and deaths from strangulations from children getting caught in the windows as they powered up so manufacturers introduced the auto down feature. As part of the PDI when you buy a Toyota it’s one of the features we have to test before the vehicle is sold to a customer. The aftermarket auto up switch do not auto reverse when something or someone is caught in the window. You can test it yourself, simply auto up the window and give a little push down as it’s going up.

1st oil change today.
Installed oil pan valve.
Couldn't get the plastic oil filter housing off with reasonable force using breaker bar. Didn't want to break it so aluminum housing and filter will have to wait until next oil change when I'll get help.
Oil change parts I bought included a filter wrench that is too short to engage the two "wing" so maybe I got shortchanged on that and will look for better one.
The skid pan is a big pia if you ask me.
I need measurements to cut out pan and add filter access door. ?

 

Hello,
I just installed the VLAND LED headlight & tail lights with sequential turn signals. Headlights work fine but sequential signal not working on tails, all the lights blink at same time.
What did you do to get sequentials working?

After searching web forever I found an _ebay vendor who included a note regarding wiring change that I will try tomorrow.

 

There are two small connectors as shown in the picture. If you disconnect the connector that has black to purple wires the signals will sequentially flash. If you disconnect the connector with the black and blue wire you can disable the start up animation.
