Ugh, it's worth a day to play on it yourself...I'm way cheaper than $900/day!

Normally, I'd do the work, but sometimes the time is more valuable. I'm in that boat on the BMW motor R&R. I paid to have it removed & most likely will pay to have it installed.

So am I but between kids activities and travel, there’s just not enough hours in a week unless I burned a day of PTO and I don’t get enough of that to use it for this.

Adulting still sucks! But at least you have some dollars to throw towards it, despite the lack of time!

I hate adulting. The other fact is my truck is a daily and the family road trip truck so it’s constantly being used and needs to be running. My luck I’ll drop a spring or something and then it’s down.

TY. Was less concerned about the reading but more interested in the conditions that trigger the fuel cutoff. I think I am just misremembering it happening more often.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    as said earlier

Mine reads NULL on fuel cutoff situations

which, if you drive like me…..it’s often

it comes on mostly when I’m in cruise control

    or downhill

or off pedal cruising to the red light

So glad my "kids" are moved out and on with their lives. My daughter liked it when my son went off to college. Except when it came time to dig fence post holes and mix cement...yard work.:D she'd be like why do I have to do this? Because it builds character.

Regarding the kids, time, and money "stuff" - I know my hourly rate for work, and with how demanding everything is with the kids right now (12 & 14), my personal rate is about 3x as much. Partly because I don't like concrete floors anymore and partly because they're cool and I can see we only have a few years left before they go off to college. $900 isn't cheap, but let's be honest, we're all driving optionally modified vehicles. What's another $900? (Younger me is shitting a brick with that statement)

If I’m being honest, the concrete floor is a big factor. The 40yr old shoulders aren’t down with laying on concrete much these days.

With me, it's not about the money or the time, it's about being disappointed every time someone touches my truck.

Speaking of which, I just burned 3 hours swapping my GM snout for the Tundra snout, adjusting lines and my intake tube. It occurred to me, that I don't know the mileage/abuse the GM snout has seen since I bought it used from an Aussie off eBay. I also took the time to verify the pulleys are in the same plane, even though Harrop already said they were.

I'll let the loctite 518 setup for another hour or so before I go out and get disappointed in my colossal waste of time...

Ain't that the truth. I r&r'd the BMW motor 2x without touching the rack or removing the throttle cable(s) (both throttle & cruise are on a cable)

I found out when I went to roll the car out of the garage to pressure wash the engine bay they disconnected the fucking rack (100% unnecessary)

I had just undone the 4 bolts holding the TB on the intake & let it sit connected to the cables, they also unnecessarily disconnected the fuel lines. So YA, it sucks letting others work on the cars.

I hope the effort pays off & that was the issue with the noise.

I'd love to have a concrete floor, gravel sucks on the mid 50 year old shoulders Next shop/garage will be more dedicated to truck stuff instead of woodworking stuff. I told myself I was moving after the house was done/reno'd last year.

Lay on some anti-fatigue mat, your shoulders will thank you. That's what I use if I'm going to be on my back for a while, like back when I was constantly screwing with the fuel system.

So I was doing a little more research on getting air temps down as I’m seeing a 30-35+ degree difference over ambient on the highway. Not sure if this article has been shared but I know we’ve discussed thermal insulation under the blower and spacers to get the supercharger up off the motor. Reading this makes sense on the Harrop to run the spacers to get that temp sensor away from the motor for more accurate intake temp readings.

This is what mine does...and it reads -24 when in decel, I never get ---- unless its warming up.
I had a time where it jumped all over the place and/or wouldn't read....turned out to be a bad sensor, so I ordered another sensor from Amazon...has been working fine ever since. I have a spare sensor now too.

Hmmm, that's the ideal spot, right?! (rhetoric) I'm just trying to spitball some ideas on why you're seeing this more than I would assume should happen...perhaps the sensor is souring?
