Has anyone successfully found a way to turn off the TPMS in the 3rd gen Tundras? I purchased a set of TRD Off Road wheels and tires for my Platinum and these new tires/wheels don't appear to have TPMS. I'm totally fine with them not having the sensors, but the light on the dash is annoying.

Just wondering if there is a way to disable the system? I've seen some threads for the 2.5 gens, but nothing for the 3rd gens.

If they are OEM TRD OR wheels, they probably still do have the TPMS. You probably need to configure it in your settings.

I used to put black electric tape over Evap CEL in my Jeep. Should work well with the TPMS light. Alternatively Discount Tire can reprogram TPMS Sensors or sell you new ones.

I’ve tried the re-program/re-learn process, but it never gets past “Identifying Each Wheel & Position”. Been 4 days and about 120 miles, probably 3-4 hours of driving time. I’ve tried to do the process a few times now.

Is there a way to tell for sure if they have TPMS sensors? I had thought you could tell by the valve stem being stiff/rigid. The valve stems that are on OEM wheels and tires that came on the truck feel that way, but the ones on the OR wheels/tires I bought are pretty flexible, hence why I thought they didn’t have the TOMs sensors.

I can certainly take it to Discount Tire, just trying to avoid wasting time if there aren’t even TPMS sensors there.

On my 1st gen Tundra I disabled the light by removing the instrument cluster and grounding the wire that drove the TPMS light (I had the schematics). If you have the analog gauges on your 3rd gen you may be able to do the same thing. If you have the digital instrument cluster (basically a computer screen) then there will likely be no way to do it since it's not actually a light (just an icon).

Take it to discount and have them scan each tire, only takes a minute and if there are sensors then boom they will program them if not then boom pay them 300$+ and will have them.

Its very odd that whatever shop did your tires didn’t swap the sensors or explain that though unless these are second hand and you just mounted them as is. In which case you could borrow the sensors from the original set unless they are the steel rim version.

If the valve stems at the base have a nut on them, they're TPMS, if they are solid rubber down to the wheel, they don't have TPMS. On 2nd and 2.5 gen tundras you can cross two wires on the tpms module and it shuts the light off; I don't know if you can do that for the 3rd gen but you probably can.

You can get tpms sensors that have full rubber stems too. Look otherwise identical to a dummy rubber stem on the outside.

couldn't tell you, I did it 4 years ago, just google it and itll pop up

    edit: https://www.tundras.com/threads/disable-tpms.1056/

Thats what I used; didn't actually need the resistors, just crossed the two wires. But they both need to stay connected

Ended up taking the truck to Discount Tire. TPMS sensors were not installed. They threw a set in, and the seller I bought the wheels/tires from ended up splitting the cost of the new TPMS sensors with me.
