Good friendly banter - as long as we respect each others choice of cab/bed setup - litlle puns are good and if a person gets frizzled by them they do need to 'grow-up'
I am from the 70's/80's era where you made friends thru banter/nick names/drag races/sometimes heated

My friends all drive CC/5.5 Bed = as i said in my previous posts, it is all about personal preferences which is neutral and equal to everyone on here
They all tried to convince me that i could live with the 5.5 but KNEW i could'nt/would'nt/should'nt

The dialogue on this thread may HELP some people who are in the market

    Currently I am in a CC/6.5

Would love to afford a second truck = pre-22 Tundra DblCab/8ft Bed

Two trucks = leisure and work

I love the back and forth. Maybe I wasn't clear enough... Believe me when I say I'm usually the first guy to start ribbing folks. Same generation as you. Born in 72.

    Thank You Brother

i am serious about taking a Chevy 2500 6'10" Bed and adapting it to my RAM with the Chevy bumper.

Have to look under both trucks and take pics and then sit down and explore the challenges and costs

If extra money comes my way and it looks do-able, i will assemble the 'prefect' CC - lol

So I've got a friend who's got a 2008 Dbl Cab 6.5' bed, and his Dad has a 2023 Dbl Cab 6.5' bed. The difference in back seat room is very significant. Large grown men can sit comfortably in the 2008 backseat. Double amputees, and toddlers are about all that will fit comfortably in the 2023 backseat.

I find it ironic that based on this thread, those who father children aren't manly men (because they buy a crewmax to haul those kids around), but those with no kids and no woman (who buy a single/double cab with an 8'bed) are the only "real men".

Seeing how I just got into another discussion about the use and definition of the word real that spiraled into absolute debauchery, I'll keep it short. Your opinion of what real is, isn't real. It's a personal bias.

I entered late in this thread and did not see any "real men drive 8ft bed comments"

Note: Perception can be very powerful.
Some of us are older and grew up with 8ft beds standard cabs.
When the extra cab era began it was GREAT and even GREATER with the DblCab and now CC(my current truck)

Real men drive whatever they like best = as long as it is 4WD (LOL)

Yes. And why I interject to point it out. Does that make me the asshole? Sure, but I'm okay with it.

Ahh yes the ole "my opinion is fact" tripe. Cute.

Here's my favorite part about reading "5.5' beds drool, 6.5' bedz Rule!" from a Gen 3 owner:

    Per Toyota specs -
    Gen 2 Crew Max 5.5' bed dimensions 66.7" x 66.4" x 22.2" or 98,321 cu inches of bed space

    Gen 3 DC/CM 6.5' bed dimensions 77.6" x 58.7" x 20.9" or 95,202 cu inches of bed space.

You are NOT my enemy and i NEVER, NEVER, NEVER thought any negative towards you = FORGIVE me if i crossed the line with you

My personal real world bias - i TRIED and TRIED to buy a pre-22 Tundra CC/5.5B but could not because of my real world needs

Even the 6.5 Bed is small to me(real world needs) and yet i went out and purchased a New 2025 Tundra CC/6.5B but then returned it the next day for various reasons of which the NHTSA WARNING was my GREATEST concern = loved the truck and wish i could of kept it.

All my friends have CC/5.5B and i hope that you and i can become friends as well.

    My Dear FRIEND,

RE Post 176 = It is a well know fact that ALL manufacturers(Ford/GM/Toyota/RAM) have put out MAJOR FAILS on their trucks in the past 5 years

Forums are loaded with pissed-off New Truck Owners having Trans failures, Engine failures, Electronic failures and on and on

The HIGH price of trucks today with their HIGH failure/problem issues has alot of people RIGHTFULLY uneasy/upset/unhappy

We are on here to share info, preferences, likes/dislikes, grunts and lols

QUESTION: Could we have placed too much trust on computers/tech in the new designs???

Being as they offer a crewmax 6.5 bed, they really didn’t need to even create a double cab model. Extra expense on parts

i LIKED the dimensions you posted as a cui reference

We all know that numbers on paper can be misleading as the most important factor can be for many = Bed Length

Personal Bias = That extra foot of length is why i need the 6.5 and why i LOVE the 8ft = all personal needs

With that said: If it ain't 4WD it just ain't (waiting for the 2WD Owners)

Unless you prefer the 8ft Bed as many do.

Toyota shortened the DblCab and as such some who owned the pre-22 DblCab/8 moved on from Toyota OR settled for the CC with 6.5

I ABSOLUTELY loved the GM 2500 with CC and their 6'10" Bed = BEST of Both Worlds!!!

However the 2500 is a BIG Truck and way overkill for my needs as well as my health situation= hip surgery and hurting knees(i am older and suffered from Lymes since i was a teenager)

I wasn't directing my comment towards you directly. Just being aware enough to know that when one tends to correct other's over trivial bs on a forum, it comes with labels. We're good.

I don't need to go back to that post again- unless you edited it, it's still irrelevant. You're conflating 2 topics that are completely unrelated to each other.
Consumer demand (crew cabs, long beds, infotainment, heated cooled seats, tailgates that open like Rubik's cubes, etc, etc) has nothing to do with 3 Letter agency imposed regulations resulting in design/component/product changes. Particularly changes that have (save a small percentage relative to units produced) improved performance of the Tundra. More HP; more torque, earlier to do your "6.5' bed truck stuff." You should be scorching your shorts over it.

I doubt there is different widths and depths measurements between the two bed lengths.

There is no replacement for displacement
Those who desire compression have learned their lesson
    Reliablity Rulz Tec-No-knowledgely
Tundra V8s go well over 150k with basic maintanence
V6 Twin Blunder cannot bypass V8 Thunder when they die under 50k
Over 100k Engine Replace Recalls and COUNTING
When this is all over the pre-22 Tundras will still be STANDING

    None at this point.
While true to a certain extent forced induction rules the roost when it comes to HP out of a moderate sized engine.
And Toyotas have proven over and over they can handle the extra pressure.
There are very few vehicles out there other than the high HP vehicles like say the Vet that that can scratch that HP itch!!
While I could buy a Corvette it doesnt do what I want my vehicle to do which is haul trailers and go offroad.
Dont get me wrong,I'd love to have a Vet but the the Wife would have Kittens if I were to bring one home....
So I resort to forced induction...and the Wife still thinks of it as a truck, and so does the insurance company....for the most part,as long as you dont tell they dont know.
I see it as a Win Win....
    Correct me if I'm wrong....

To state it that way is to pretend that having 6 cylinders vs 8 is the key to making good power. Toyota has really only demonstrated that you can make an otherwise anemic engine produce adequate power with about 20psi of boost for likely half the service life. The V6 is nothing without boost. A V8 already has pretty good base power. Throw even a measly 4 psi at it and it produces significantly more than the boosted V6 while remaining reliable.

    Several
Time to kick over thr beehive
Ive also wondered why people would pay top dollar for a 14 year old design , engine and tech in the 2nd gen. Reliability is great but except for the tundra nobody pays for old designs

    Actually, many people do.
Many more are uninformed (or believe the hype) and just go buy the latest and supposed greatest.

What is my 1970 GTO worth today and how many people would be standing in line to buy it at $30k.........i paid $700 for it in 1980

My 2018 Tundra with 56k miles along with scratches and quite a few small dings on the outside bed area sold for $32k
Now add to that $32k the cost of a round trip plane ticket from California(Buyer) and another $1,700 he paid to have it towed back to CA and another $300 to have it detailed = $35k

I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to buy a good condition 1997 T100 with Manual Trans and if I were financially well-off these would be my vehicles:
    a.) 1997 T100 with manual trans
    b.) My 1970 GTO back
    c.) My 1981 Z28 Camaro
    d.) My 2013 Tundra DblCab 8ft Bed
    e.) My 2018 Tundra TRD SR5 DblCab 8ft
    f.) My 2007 RAM 2500 5.9 Cummins
g.) almost forgot my 1969 Grand Prix (paid $700 with 56k original miles)
h.) 2018 Subaru Forester with manual trans (Subaru stopped making manual trans in Forester)
i.) STIHL 044 Slant Fin = mine had 200 psi compression STOCK and will rip your hand off if you did not master it

i am sure other Toyota owners on here have their own favorite "old school tech" vehicles back as well if $$$ were flowing easy
