no, not at all.. no change in fuel efficiency nothing whatsoever you would not even have known. Just can’t figure out why they would want you to replace them every 40,000 miles?

At least my first 40K plugs will be done by the dealer. It’s part of the prepaid maintenance up to 85K.

What are the factory plugs? The Manual Says ec22hpr-d7 denso. But Rock auto and the denso sales site says they aren't compatible with a 2023 SR5.

I assume the manual is correct but a bit paranoid

Indeed, it's very strange that they only have the DENSO EC22HPR-D7 listed as compatible for 2022 and nothing else:

Stranger still the Denso 3523 is listed for the 2022 tundra. But not a 2023. Yet the other available plugs/brands are listed for both years

Is Denso what Toyota used from factory?

A lot of times, RA will actually list that it is an OE part.

The plugs I replaced at 90k miles were obviously original. DENSO iridium EC 22HPR-D7

For those wondering at 46k miles I just did the plugs (and what a pain........) plugs looked like above pics and had proper gap. And all my hesitation is gone. Snappy throttle and strong idle is back!

Hmmm I changed the plugs on my gen 2 at 192K miles, made no difference at all, nothing. Im not in a hurry to change plugs and think some of this shit is just to get me to spend more money on stuff I dont need.

Oh, my Gen 3 2023 has 72K on it now, original plugs, no changes in anything I can see so far.

Plus Im getting a new engine in a month or two so screw it.

I'm with you, 40K spark plug changes are ridiculous, especially if the dealerships are charging north of $500 to do it. I traded in both of my previous Tundras at around 140K miles. Both trucks still had the original spark plugs in them, and they still ran perfectly.

Perhaps twin turbo engines are harder on plugs, I get that, but 40K intervals is still dumb.

Maybe get some pictures of some of the spark plugs on your original engine before it's replaced. I think 40K is excessive as well. Maybe 80-100K.

Ran the OEM Irridium plugs on a Tacoma and a Venza to 100K miles before changing. They looked perfect and no change in power or mpg after the changes on either vehicle. Seem to last forever.

Hey TW - i am looking into changing the plugs on my truck (33,xxx Miles) , This just started happening - not building boost - only 7-10 PSI in 1st gear and 15-20 in 2nd. Idle seems unstable too. What are your thoughts. Acceleration video link below.

Can’t believe that could be plug related in anyway unless they were loose and falling out!! I’m guessing a sensor issue or possibly a wastegate actuator though the actuator normally throws a code and puts the motor in limp mode (like the early ‘22s). Where/how are you reading the boost psi?

I am reading it on the dash... Just the scale that Toyota gives you with 10 and 20 psi. Does yours build to the 19ish psi in 1st gear from a dead stop? Mine used to and doesn't anymore

I don't have a live tool and I need to send my scan gauge 2 back for a software update.

I’ll test tomorrow. It’s been a yr and a half since I took readings using the Car Scanner App. My truck has an analog dash with no gauge. (‘23)
