I purchased frac harness from https://www.fracharness.com/, got it installed by professional service shop, it stopped working properly after 1 week: both cameras show black screen, even when in rear gear mode, until electronics warms up (can take 5-15 minutes) then both cameras work. Assume bad soldering/loose contact inside the electronics block or even bad capacitor/some other electronics.
Waiting for a response if I can exchange falty with working one.

@TundraTex i installed the FRAC camera kit with the OEM style switch, and Nakita camera. I’ve been having problems with my Bluetooth connection. The caller on the other end hear my voice but it’s muffled. Toyota dealer couldn’t figure it out until I remove the jumper harness behind the radio and plug back the OEM connection. Any ideas? The only modification I did to the kit is extend the wires for the front/rear switch to the shift area. Now my phone calls works perfectly but at the cost of no front and rear cameras. Let me know if you have any suggestions on what to do or look for. Thanks

I have never seen that problem before. I noticed in an earlier post you made, that your battery had died at some point. did the BT ever work properly with the FRAC installed but before the battery problem?

To be honest, I don’t know. My truck has 3200 miles currently, I been using it more for work now. Visit Toyota dealer twice, first time they tried to update the data communication module they couldn’t communicate with the truck, they told me to remove all aftermarket parts. I went to the audio shop, told them to rip out my compustar alarm system, and after I unplugged the FRAC system from behind the radio. Dealer took the truck in and updated the DCM no problem. Everything worked fine afterwards. I went back to the audio shop, told them to install a new compustar alarms system/remote start. So I figured I’m all good, reinstall the FRAC. A few weeks later I’m using the truck more and noticed when a customer calling, it’s not working properly. Then the ah ha moment hit me when I remembered Toyota tech said the radio, phone speaker, navigation all goes through the DCM. Unplugged the FRAC behind the radio, been riding around for two weeks, customers calling me can hear me clearly now. I’m going to mess with the wires this weekend to see if any pins are loose in the t-harness.

I am guessing that one of the mic lines may have been damaged or may have a loose or bent pin or some other issue. The mic assembly feeds the Head Unit directly through pins 21-25 of the 30-pin connector that the FRAC harness uses. I would check those lines for any damage or loose pins. Let me know if you see any issues with those pins or wires. In the factory harness 21 should be green, 22 Pink, 23 Blue and 25 Brown. 24 is a shield.

Your Toyota guy was correct that the Mic signals go to the DCM, however those signals are in parallel with inputs to the Head Unit as well.

If you want, you can also reach out to Brian (inquiry@autoharnesshouse.com) and he will work with you to swap out a replacement harness.

I don’t think that’s the case on the trucks with DCM.
My experience with these diagrams is “either/or” when they have the option numbers on both sets of wires.
I’m fairly certain the mic goes only to the DCM (three wires plus shield) and then the DCM sends mic output to the HU on pins 21/22 (plus shield).

That said, the wires at the HU connector themselves are all the same either way, and the FRAC jumper harness would simply pass those through.

I would agree that it sounds like a loose or damaged wire or a bent pin somewhere in the best of wires behind the HU.

Since I don't a a '21 Pro to examine myself I can't be sure. I agree with you that normally the asterisk indicates two different physical wiring options. However the notes for *3 and *4 are "with Safety Connect" and "without Safety Connect". I'm not certain but I thought Safety Connect was an optional service - facilitated by the DCM - but not mandatory. So I'm not sure if both are wired or not. Either way, these wires are the first thing to look at in the troubleshooting effort.

It’s not mandatory to have it operating, but if the truck has the SOS button the unit is still there and the mic is running through it. Same for the one dash speaker that routes through the DCM - the mic and speaker work even if the radio is off.

and yes, that is where I’d troubleshoot as well

If you'd like to have a '21 Pro to 'examine', my FRAC isn't displaying front cam right now.... :D

So I located the OEM plug and wiring, on the jumper harness the wiring goes through the yellow RCA wiring, through the relay, and back to the jumper to plug into the radio. I thought that was front camera input, I could be wrong.
But checking the jumper harness pins and wirings, it looks fine to me. Should I start cutting out the insulation on the soldered joints?

While you have it apart, I would re-install the FRAC Harness connections and try some bluetooth calls again. Could have been a poorly seated connector. If that doesn't help then I would contact Brian and he will work with you to get this resolved.

There are multiple Head Unit functions that work even if the power is off Since it still has Ignition power applied... Cam video for one. From the pics it appears that the wires are there at the head unit connector. So maybe they are in parallel after all.

Currently shopping for a 2nd/2.5gen Tundra and know I'll need a front camera, so the FRAC seems ideal. I've read through this thread, but didn't see mention of whether or not it can be operated via steering wheel controls. I installed a front camera system on my 2016 Tacoma and being able to activate, and switch, from the buttons was invaluable. And if I missed mention of that, apologies. Read the thread late at night and may have zoned out for a page or two....

Awesome product, though, and likely what I'll add to the Tundra when we get it.

I've been following the thread closely as well.

Most install a switch that controls the cameras. I noted nothing that said you could control the cams from the SW.

@TundraTex @RainMan_PNW thank you for y’all’s help. I been testing it out all week, it’s been working perfectly. I end up unplugging everything like you said, pushed all the pins in place and plugging everything back up, this time I didn’t tie strap everything together so tightly. Dodged a bullet, I didn’t want to run a new harness at all.

The FRAC design is widely installed and pretty bulletproof. So when strange problems pop up that have never been reported previously, the ol’ re-set and re-seat normally does the trick. Happy you figured it out.
