With the loan of my brother's 02 AC, I've been doing tons of fixes and upgrades to make it a decent daily driver for me. He has made very few specific requests. A week or so ago, he asked me to find a replacement for the missing passenger side plug that covers the nut holding the windshield wiper arm to the cowl. I went to one local junkyard, but the wiper arms were long gone. Then I went to the local LKQ because they had a new Gen1 I wanted to check out. There's a $5 cover charge and you have to give them some personal info just to get on the lot. If you've ever been to an LKQ, they usually put their vehicles on several spot welded rims to get them up off the ground. That way you can get parts from underneath the rigs more easily. That wouldn't have been a problem except that we'd had a round of heavy storms roll through and this LKQ has a drainage problem. I had to wade into 4 inches of the sketchiest water and mud that I've seen in a while. :eek2: Fortunately, I was in my Muck boots. Then I had to climb up on a loose wheel and stretch over the hood to get the little cover being careful not to drop it into the engine bay. When I went to check out, the guy at the counter just gave me the part. Guess the cover charge was good enough for him.:) I'd have taken pictures of the lot, but was afraid of dropping my phone in all that muck. I may go back and put a light bead of RTV on each of those plugs so they don't get lost again.

Monday was the wiper arm plug. Tuesday, it was time to replace the front passenger seat belt buckle. The original was still working, but the button was no longer rebounding.
The gray ones are NLA and the only color for almost everything plastic for Gen1s is MED OAK. I found a replacement on eBay for $44 through seller "beachtoyota" and it arrived in short order.
Pulled the seat, replaced the buckle (torqued to 31 ft-lbf), and routed the wire nice and neat underneath.
The color is a little off, but it matches the driver side that we did about a year ago. This sure beat waiting on the thing to fail!

Completed a drain and fill of my AT. Will do another one when I replace all of the cooler hoses in a few weeks. Also changed the rear diff fluid with the highly recommended Lucas 80w90.

    Oh...and I received the gusseted spindles that I can't use....ugh.

They look the same from the top. However, I do recall that we had to modify the plug on the one my brother bought last year for the driver side (LH) because the connector didn't quite fit the receptacle on the bottom of that seat. That makes me wonder if he ordered a RH and didn't realize it. It's a pretty simple swap. Give it a try.

In the midst of pulling the passenger front seat to replace the seat belt buckle on Tuesday, I suddenly realized there would be no better time to shampoo the carpets. So, I broke out our new Hoover PowerScrub XL and put it to work along with some Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover.

Here's the towel I used for spot cleaning and the dirty water tank from the Hoover.

I ran a full tank of shampoo solution through the Hoover during this operation. The stuff in the dirty tank looks like coffee because that's probably most of what it picked up. So, technically I know the carpet is clean-er, but you need the before and after photos to see the improvement. I think 2 more full tanks would have gotten even better results, but I'd had enough. If I ever have to pull the front seats again, I'll probably also pull the center console and repeat the entire process. For now, I'm satisfied that it's LESS yucky. Now I just need some good all-weather mats.

They are for the early, small LBJ year Tundras....2000 - 2003 I think. I just had a brain fart when I ordered them. Already placed the order for the correct ones. Gonna bathe in the dollars spent on shipping ....FML. Lesson learned.

Got the new KO3s mounted and balanced. No issues. Rides so much better than the previous MTs. My cab is finally smooth and quiet. Got an alignment as well. Had them max out the caster. Couldn’t get total toe and camber exactly where I wanted it but overall it was worthy sacrifice.

Pretending to make progress... Still not sold on whether it's going to work or not since my truck is a little different than Mamba's, but going to trim the ears on the frame horns this weekend. Should know then.

I'd just buy this for a spanner wrench: https://www.kartek.com/parts/king-s...ng-and-sway-a-way-516-pin-diameter-45315.html

This is the one I have https://www.tatummotorsports.com/products/2-5-spanner-wrench?variant=44946018992350

Update: Idle relearned, still sitting around 900 o_O, but she starts like buttah compared to before. I could smell those new OEM gaskets burning in, prob should revisit the 13ftlb torque setting soon.
I have yet to clamp off the brake booster line, or the PS booster line to see if either of those are a vac leak.
I forgot to mention what the flywheel looked like considering the condition of the starter... I looked as soon as it sunk in and there was minimal damage, dodged a serious bullet there
Best trick I learned during this was to use a 3/16 wide piece of gorilla tape over the lip of my socket to hold the 12mm bolts/nuts for the manifold in the socket while fishing them down in.
Wobble extension helped for the rear nuts as well.

Your little edit is funny to me because some of the differences 100% have to do with cooling... No trans cooler, no A/C fan, no power steering "cooler", AC drier separate from condenser...

I used my needle nose to hold them from the top and drop them in, then to hold them from the side. Those rear nuts suck, especially when you're lifted. I just knelt on the rad support and one hand on the firewall.

Yes, which is why (for science) you’ll have to document everything. Your fan, I believe, will be the biggest hurdle. I know that the winch mount must sit flush against the rad support for it to clear the bumper.

Fired up the BlueDriver, went live data (RPM) and proceeded to clamp off the brake booster, then PS vac lines. No change, still 900-890 Idle.
I'm not trippin on it, just curious if it was something simple. Retorqued/checked all the manifold nuts and bolts.
My honeymoon with this truck still isn't over. Standing there listening to her 297k engine just purrrrrr so nicely made me smile. ;)
