Yep, I worked three years longer than I needed to financially because of insurance.

 

It's going to be a major consideration for my wife in just a few years. A bit disappointing, since I'd rather she was already retired; but the warranty on both of us has expired so shit's starting to break, and it's expensive to fix.

 

I've been off since January, and won't go back until July.
I sure have enjoyed not going to work even with the surgeries.
Disablity pay is a 1/5 of what I usually make, but it is better than nothing.
Thankfully the only debt I have is the mortgage.

I've probably got three more years to go as well before I retire.
Hell, after I get my shoulders and knees replaced, I might go longer.
I don't really work that hard at work..
If I could get a run that starts in mid-morning and only work 9 hours a day, I wouldn't mind going to work..

 

This brings back traumatic memories.

While I respect poetry as an art, I have never been a fan or able to write them (or understand 97.3% of them). Absolutely hated that crap in high school and all the different formats of poems drives me nuts.

Back in high school I had an English assignment to write a haiku. It was just after the November election and as I drove home I noticed a bunch of those election signs were still up. So I wrote my haiku about how they went from passionate appeals to unsightly garbage.

I followed the format, it made sense, it was on time and on the right paper in ink… and got a phuking B grade.

So yes, I have some residual rage about that…

 

I will admit it.. I had to walk away from it and then read it out loud. I missed it while reading only.

 

Not going to lie, I read the whole thing. Immediately knew what the last text was but did not connect hike who? I had to say it all out loud and then I got it.
As my wife says, "you're the smartest guy I know and dumbest guy I know."

 

Word.
