Is there a rim from a newer toyota that will fit a 1st generation toyota tundra. The rims that I have are starting to show there age would like to get a newer set of rims on it and I see a lot of people that are selling toyota rims. The tires and rims that I have on it are 265 70 16. My question is will rims from a 16 or 17 inch rim from a highlander or tacoma or any other toyota fit the 1st generation tundra?

Pretty much any 16"+ 6 lug Toyota/Lexus wheel with 106mm center bore 6x139.7mm or 6x5.5in lug pattern (pre-current generation Tundra/Tacoma)

Highlander is a five lug, so no go.
Stick to 01-23 Tacoma, 96-24 4runner, any FJ Cruiser, any Lexus GX460 or GX470

There are quite a few posts on that topic

    • Wheel fitment(backspacing/offset info) ... backspacing/offset plays a HUGE role in whether or not you'll rub with larger-than-OEM tires. If you need help understanding what ballpark to play in, this is a good thread to read. Gist: Best fit to put you near the fender edge w/o rub on 8½" wide wheel is ~4¾" backspace, 9" wheel aim for ~4.5" backspace. Popular Tundra OEM 7½" wheels had 5" backspace, Tacoma OEM is not ideal at 5.5" backspace. With leveling, oversize 275/70r17 tires on 17x8.5" wheels @ 0 offset (i.e. 4.75"backspace) should only have minor rub.
    • Wheel fitment (caliper rub): If your truck has larger 13WL calipers, beware of caliper rub on 16" wheels! 13WL is std on 2003+
    • Wheel fitment (from otherTundras): 2007-2022 Tundras use 5-lug wheels. In 2023, Tundras started using 6-lug axles again, but the hub bore is smaller (95mm on 3rd gen vs. 106mm on 1st gen), so theytechnically won't work unless youspend a couple hundo on custom-made spacers.
    • Some other tire size considerations see HERE and more over HERE.
    • Wheel fitment (from other Toyota models): Anything from PRE-2024Tacomas, 4Runners, Land Cruiser, LX470 and GX models that are 6-lug will typically fit. Someone here is probably running it already, and pics of it are in the OEM wheels thread. Make sure the hub bore is 106.1mm on the donor wheels else you need hubcentric adapters.

It's worth mentioning that a lot of the Lexus and many popular Tacoma wheels have a shitty +30 offset which leaves your backspacing at 5.5" which, with oversized tires, can rub suspension.

Yeah my GX wheels sat deep inside the wheel wells and the tires rubbed frame on full lock... Of course I was lowered 2" in front too. Spacers ftw

That's another thing. I'd never use spacers on any vehicle unless they were steel (most are alloy) and/or I really trusted my wheel and tire shop to hand-torque.

I've seen too many horror stories related to cracked spacers, lots of them on the old VW Vortex forums. Impact guns and spacers don't mix. I want to say it's @KNABORES that posted his cracked alloy spacer on here, though I know others have managed to crack theirs too, in passing mention.

I’ve run 1.25” wheel spacers on my FGT for 18 or so years now. No issues, and they aren’t even hub-centric. The set my son bought for his Mustang cracked, likely from being over tightened. They were some off brand and were aluminum.

I'm in the same boat as OP--I've been reading up on theses posts referenced and others, I'm trying to get a good understanding--My stock wheels are not in good looking shape and I want to replace them. Stock 16" (should all be standard specs, with stock offset, backspace , 106mm , 6 lug, etc) can I just upgrade from 16" to 17" if I find a set that matches the rest of those standard/specs (or use a solid non alum spacer if required for backspace) and just throw the tires on them and not expect any rub or fitting problems? I do not have any lift installed--stock rake look.
