Wife is looking at adding this project to my “to do list”. Would I only need the Milwaukee crown stapler (3/8”?) for this?

Stapler or Brad nailer would work, imo. Those panels aren't going anywhere and won't be pushed/pulled to where I'd see the need for stapler strength.

I’ll start this off by saying that I am by no means a professional, but when I do this sort of thing I use a finish nailer and fire the pins at opposing angles. Now the reason I do that is because my buddy, who is a journeyman finish carpenter, got all upset with me when I tried to use a crown stapler one day and chastised me for creating a larger indent to fill later, which didn’t hold as well as the opposing angled pin nails.

Exactly, and knowing her I may need it again. I used my buddy’s Brad nailer for the bathroom remodel a few months ago for scribe…so I should def have my own

The detail sander from Milwaukee works really well. It also has a decent battery life.

I would use the 16 gauge finish nailer.

Listen to Bryan and Zapp. Either a 16ga or 18ga finish nailer.

Crown staple going through 1/4” of panel plus 1/2” of Sheetrock (plus some texture) only leaves 1/2” of bite into the stud and leaves a bigger hole to fill. And when you are doing the thicker trim boards, you have even less.

I have the brad nailer (18g) coming.

For cutting these panels, would this suffice?

A track saw would be nice but those are quite a bit more expensive. I don't have the need for one, at least not enough to justify the cost with how infrequent I would use it. And since I can't make a cut as straight as I'd like I use a straight edge that I bought at Home Depot several years ago. It's two 4ft sections that attach with a bar in the middle, I clamp both ends to the piece being cut and run the saw along the edge to get a straight cut. You have to do some trial and error on a scrap piece of wood to know how much to compensate for when measuring for your cut but it's doable. If you use the saw a lot or just have the money to burt get the track saw, otherwise I'd get a circular saw and straight edge.

As for circular saws themselves, a brushless motor would be better but for light use the one you linked would be fine.

    I have something like this...
    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Empire-...CMBo1J5NYF7lFC1E9hgaAuPBEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
I did drill and tap a couple more holes in the bar to make the two pieces more sturdy

Yeah, definitely not for the paneling but it's a great tool to have.
What do you mean? When I bought the saw I was comparing several other stands and settled on the DeWalt for its portability and ease of setting up. I'm able to easily load/unload from my truck.i believe Bosch has a similar one that someone on here recommended. That was a close 2nd.

I’ve watched a lot of reviews on mitre saw stands recently (in the market for one myself) and YouTube university tends to agree with you on that one being top dog

Get yourself any kind of circular saw that fits your fancy. The right tool for breaking down sheet goods is a track saw, but they are expensive and not as multipurpose. you can approximate one for the cost of a couple pieces of wood.

2 get a GOOD mask with a good fit an p100 filters. You don’t want to breathe that crap.

3 make yourself a saw board with your new saw. It will act as a guide for among straight cuts. Honestly, I have a dewalt track saw and the saw board was just as good.

4 Get yourself a big piece of foam insulation to lay the panels down on to cut them. If they flex when you cut them, they won’t align well. I am famous for being lazy about this and regretting it later.

Those straight edges are where it's at. I still have my almost 30 yo craftsman corded circular saw and one of those. Gets it done for me. Track saws are super nice but not a need unless your making money from its use.
