If they are removing those hoses there will be fluid loss.

They offered a deal with Enterprise, who they have a program set up. I opted out because my FIL really wanted me to drive his truck. He can’t drive anymore, but he still tries to keep his pick up in good shape. It hardly gets driven anymore. So he asked if I would drive it to keep things circulating and burn some gas out and so on. It’s a single cab 2013 F150 with the 5.0 V8.

    It’s a sweet little truck.

As far as no car wash, I was a little disappointed, but until today it has been frigid and snowing all week, so maybe they might not wash vehicles under those conditions. Not sure.

I am quite curious of those with motor replacements, have you experienced the “LAG”, delay at take off like many of us experience. It made me think of it as it just happened to me again.

I’ve seen a lot of posts saying the lag has gone away after the long block install.

I didn’t have that too much on old engine, but the new is responsive.

Just posting to keep this thread near the top.

I'm happy to see everyone has had decent experiences with these engine swaps, so far. The average turnaround time seems to be about 3 days, and most have reported improved performance from the new engines. Other than a few trucks weren't cleaned afterwards, we haven't had a single negative experience.

Keep the new swap experiences coming, and the post swap updates, as well.

    Thanks

Dropped off my 2022 with 37k on 2/19 pretty much after hours. Was given a 2024 sr5 loaner, was offered a taco but passed on it. Loaner was clean and only had 2k miles.

Was told it was ready that Saturday but they wanted to detail it. Picked up today, 2/24. My advisor was out to lunch so I didn't get to talk to her.

When I dropped it off, I explained to her that I had 2 aftermarket parts installed and asked that they transfer them over to new engine. BMS couplers and a catch can. She said it wasn't a problem and thanked me for putting some blue tape on them so the tech wouldn't forget.

Redlands Toyota did an awesome job, beginning to end. If you ever need service, go directly to Cassandra.

Truck runs fine, don't notice much difference from my 37k mile engine other than it's a bit sluggish. Dumping this oil in 500 or so miles

    Greetings all,
2022 Tundra Limited TRD OffRoad 4x4, non-hybrid, CrewMax that was built FEB 2022 and currently has 28,500 miles on it.

I have the Westcott Designs leveling kit with 35 inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires on the stock 20in TRD wheels. I also have the TRD air filters from Toyota.

All maintenance has been done at the recommend intervals by Toyota. All recalls have been addressed that pertain to my Tundra. 85% of my driving is typically on regular roads. That should cover the basics.

Over the course of owning my truck I have had a few issues; drivers seat, lack of power from a stop, delayed throttle response, automatic radiator vents sticking, brake noise, and tonneau cover production issues, for the highlights.

Dropped my truck off mid OCT 2024 after a “Reduced Engine Power visit your dealer” message. Given a Highlander loaner initially, after two and a half months I was then given a 1794 edition Tundra with 2,000 miles on it for my loaner.

Went to pick up truck mid FEB 2025, had some cleaning that needed to be done along with mold and a few other items that broke while sitting (arm rest, window actuator). Left the truck for additional repairs and cleaning.

Went back about a week later and picked my truck up (found rattle noise with driver window and my front windshield cracked going from detailed to dealership). I will have to take it back to get those two items addressed. Dealership could have done a better job with taking care of my truck while it was there for 4 months, but they are fixing everything and detailed my truck inside and out along with an ozone treatment.

New crate engine installed, all surrounding connections and accessories transferred from old engine (pretty much anything surrounding the engine that is not part of the main components). Runs great, drives great, have about 150 miles on it and happy with it.

First oil change is at 5,000 miles, probably going to do it at 2,500 miles not sure if it will matter either way. Happy to have my truck back.

I picked up mine today from the dealership with the new engine installed. It does seem to run a little smoother, and the Take off surge from stop is all but gone! I will write some more follow up.

It is a complete engine assembly. I think you mean spark plugs, it does come with those as well as coilpacks, wires, etc.

Got my truck back last Saturday finally, my engine swap took slightly longer then the rest of you. They had my truck for 8 months and 3 weeks.

Mileage 27140 going in and 27177 coming back and No issues prior to taking truck in, my service rep was replacing a bumper clip and convinced me to let them keep the truck until they could do the engine swap. I was in 1 tacoma and 2 tundras while they had mine.
Precision toyota of tucson did the work and my truck was detailed inside and out when i got it back. They did have to put an autozone battery in it when they gave me the truck but I am here now having it swapped for a toyota one. My advisor said there is no breaking in needed and no oil change needed other then at 10k, I've been doing every 5k so I'm still deciding if I want to do the 1k or just go back to 5k like normal.

First impression is this engine sounds a bit more aggressive, can't tell if it sounded like that before because the rentals were the tuned down sr5's but I checked my carista app and the fake engine noises are still turned off. Engine feels a lot smoother but I haven't taken up to the limiter yet. Also, the lag when taking off from a rolling stop is completely gone. They did reinstall my aftermarket intakes but took off my BOV's and oil catch can.

Seems like everything went smoothly and I have no complaints so far, just happy to have my truck back finally.

Just got my truck back from the engine recall replacement in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Mine was a Limited gas, Nov 2021 build date with 60,000 km / 38,000 miles. I had no drivetrain issues at all, prior to the replacement. Took the dealership 2.5 days. They also did the fuelline recall and replaced the driver seat plastic for the 2nd time on warranty. I have been driving it for 3 days and have not noticed much difference. Fuel economy appears slightly reduced [by 1L/100 km], but that will likely get better once the engine breaks in. Mild burning smell on first day of driving. Loanner was a rented 6.6L V8 GMC 2500 HD, which was a pig on gas, and road like a tank. Happy to have my Tundra back.

I have put about 3500 Miles on the truck since the engine replacement, changed the oil for the second time today (will be 10k from now on but truck was at 90140 and that puts me back on the 5's and 10's for service, yes ocd...). I found I have a radiator hose leaking and the overflow tank is very low. It is engine side, not intercooler side. I will stop by the dealership in the am and see what happens.

Well, that sucks. Hopefully it's something minor like a hose clamp.

800 miles in and can feel the engine is a bit stronger now. Felt like I had something heavy in the bed when I first got it back. Dumping this oil now

Ok, again big shout out to Toyota of Santa Fe!
Stopped by this am, brief talk with the service advisor, they took the truck in on the spot. Less than 30 minutes later I am on my way. Turn out the leak was above where I thought and was the connection on the bottom of the engine side overflow tank. It does have a worm drive clamp but the hose wasn't straight.
I will keep an eye on the tank this week.

Glad it was a simple fix.

But I don't think I've seen a worm drive hose clamp on a modern engine for years. Sounds like the techs who did your swap cut a corner.

The tech probably misplaced the proper OEM clamp, so he just used what he had in his tool box.

I absolutely despise the old worm-drive hose clamps.

You mean you didn’t like thinking to yourself how it just needs another 1/8 of a turn as you’re tightening it, and then it strips out?

That was always a treat. I also loved how they never clamped in a true circle, so they didn't seal the full diameter of the hose. Oh, and I also loved how they often cut the hoses before they actually sealed them.

I'd like to kick the guy who designed them in the nuts.

More than likely because the hose for the intercooler overflow tank is the new style. I will just watch tank but for now it is fixed and noted for warranty purposes.
