Guys, any reason to go 13.5 instead of 12.5 as majority on here? I compared multiple tires and they’re all pretty close to the same weight. Wheels have +35 offset.

Nothing crazy yet, it won't ever be a hard core offroader, mostly forest roads so I shouldn't have to do too much. I have cut the cab mount, hammered the firewall and trimmed the front bumper until I can get the time to build a front bumper for it. No rubbing anywhere as a daily.

For those with deeper gears, what rpm are you running at 70mph?
My truck is running 1800 at 75mph and trying to determine if they’re stock or not. The front clamshell looks like someone has been in it

Apologies, I didn’t realize the Nitro calculator was dead. Too bad; it was a really nice tool!

I found another one, but it’s really generic.

so, I put in some numbers.

    You have a .58:1 6th gear ratio.
    Assuming 37” tires.
If you’re truly spinning 1800 rpm at 75 mph, you’d have to have a 4.56 gear set. That is very unlikely, as nobody makes it for Tundra that I’m aware of.

If you have 4.88, you’re doing 70 at 1,800 rpm.

If you have 5.29, you’re doing 64.6 at 1,800 rpm.

Stock 4.30 gears with 37s would be 79.44 mph at 1,800 rpm

So, how sure are you that your speedometer is accurate? Something is off, as 1,800 rpm with 37” tires at 75 mph would require a gear ratio that isn’t available for our trucks. Can you verify actual speed at 1,800 rpm with a gps?

Speedo may be off due to tire size. If you have an app or map/GPS on phone that gives speed, check it against dash gage to see if you are really doing 75 at 1800 or not.

Edit: duh, I see he already mentioned it in post before me. I should have read ahead better.

All good! My speedo is in fact dead on per Waze GPS and Google maps. 75 mph today and was the first line under 2k. That’s why I was asking cause it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me but maybe my math wasn’t mathin!

Speedo is calibrated using the hyper tech speedo cable. Verified with both Waze and Google maps.

My guess is stock gears, with 37s that aren’t a full 37” tall. And, you’re maybe just a hair off on the actual rpm. Easy to miss it by 50 or so. That sounds the most plausible.

    2200-2400rpm, and I have 5.29s with 37s.

I saw an interesting size today, 37x11.5r17 from Nitto Recon Grappler, didn't realize they existed until I saw it on a Wrangler.

Anyone tried Tinkerer’s Adventures 37s approach with success? I like the idea of 37s, but don’t want to lift the shit out of my truck to do it. I like the look of a stuffed wheel well.
    Looks like +50 offset
    11.5” wide
    Adjustable UCAs
    Am I missing anything?

And the tires have to be 11.5 wide…. No bigger. And there’s only one option or 37x11.5x17 on the marker and it’s a nitto recon grappler

Anyone tried Tinkerer’s Adventures 37s approach with success?

It works ... just need the right wheel offset (I've stuck to my RWs for years now) & the 11.5 tire ... that change in offset either way can be maddening
(Lol thats as technical as I get)

I was hoping MT would come out w a skinny BajaBoss so I could go again but no luck

    I'm on the 35(ishes) now

    Y’all think a +45 wheel would negate Tinkerer’s formula?

    Guys,
I just called a very reputable shop in SoCal and was told that 37s will NOT fit with BMC, 3”/1” Bilstein 6112/5112 (1” shackle in rear) and SPC UCA’s and will need a long travel suspension like Kings/Fox. All 125 pages in this thread says otherwise, I’m confused ‍

Damn! I forgot to ask any shops before I just went for it. Looks like I will have to go take off my 37s now if they don't fit

I was planning on having this shop do my suspension install….and I was very surprised. They also said that they will not mount 37s on Tundra. Hmm..

One of the well known. I don’t want to mention the name. They do install lots of 35s tho.
