First time posting so be prepared to cut me some slack...
I installed a G13 in my 2018 Tundra Crewmax non-JBL a little over a week ago. The initial installation took the better part of a day, but overall I have been pleased with the results. The HU looks great in the dash. Wireless Android Auto has performed well and bootup has been quick. No problems with the backup camera. Steering wheel controls are there. I made a test phone call to my wife who reported no issues. I continue to familiarize myself with the unit as I put it through it's paces. HOWEVER, I can't say that I'm well pleased with the quality of the audio this unit produces. I went so far as to configure and install the amplifier bypass harness mentioned on a separate thread on the site and I can't say I noticed any improvement. The sound seems "tinny" and "treble-leaning" no matter how I adjust the equalizer settings. While i am able to get sound from the rear speakers, it's not as "full" as the stock unit produced. If I increase the low-range settings, the sound produced increases slightly, but is muffled. I wonder if I've missed some critical setting or possibly bungled some connection with the wiring harness. I am using the stock speakers. I have already verified that the canbus setting is set to "8." Any advice?

Thank you for the reminder. I too remember reading somewhere that in many cases purchasers of these HUs had been advised to update the software. I'm looking into doing that next. On a side note I've been trying to open an 'incident/Trouble Ticket' on the Dasaita website, but haven't had any luck figuring out how to do so. I've created an account there-on, and opened several Chat sessions that went unanswered until I eventually closed them. Are others after-sales support experiences similar?

Pimpala, I just posted something on the Dasaita forum explaining my problem with sound quality. (I finally figured out how.) I'm still trying CHAT this evening to see if I can get a response. To be fair, my previous attempts to contact anyone were over the weekend. And, I too am in the Eastern timezone, so, Unless they are staffed weekends...

Hopefully, this evenings' posting will bear fruit.

As regards the installation experience, It was both easier and more complex than I expected. It took much longer than I anticipated - most of the afternoon, in fact. But, I tend to be slow and cautiously methodical when working a project like this, so it's really not surprising that I took so long. Recommend you give yourself a full day.

I only had one instance where I considered throwing up my hands and walking away from it. But, it all came together after a time. Finally got all of the wires stuffed back into the dash and put the HU in place late afternoon. Powered it all up and began testing/learning/configuring/tweaking. I still have a lot to figure out. Steering wheel controls worked without a hitch. Wireless Android as well. Backup camera, ditto. Bootup is quick. I took another afternoon, removed the HU and installed the included Microphone on the steering column and moved the 4G antenna up onto the dash alongside the GPS antenna.

I want to look into an adapter that will allow me to use the original GPS antenna. And I'm also trying to get a front view camera operational on the unit as well.
But, these are projects for another day.

Thanks, Rick. I'll keep that in mind.

Further online research indicates that the small shark fin antenna just above the windshield on the passenger side is for the satellite radio system I never used.

Pimpala, Once I posted my issue on the Dasaita forum yesterday evening, I received a rather quick response. So I believe I've broken the communication Ice jam with the support folks. I've responded to 2 separate email communications from Evelyn in the last 24 hours. No solutions offered so far, just fact-finding questions from them and answers/videos on my part. Looking forward to what tonights' comm exchange has to offer.

When do you plan your HU installation? I'm assuming you're somewhere in the northern tier.

Succinctly, "Very Pleased." Since my last post of a few hours ago I received notice on the Dasaita site that they had a new firmware update available and recommended I download and install it. I did so. There is a marked improvement in the sound quality. I won't say it's great, but it is improved and I can live with it. I wanted the HU for wireless Android Auto, which works very well. Wanted a bigger screen for a navigation function as the tundra is our Travel Trailer tow vehicle. You should be pleased with yours. Side note: I still have the HDMI connector behind the dash as well as 2 unused UPS connectors that I should do something with. I considered swapping out the cigarette lighters sockets for USB units, but haven't searched for anything that will directly connect to the Tundra wiring harness. If you know of such a unit, I'd appreciate it if you'd pass along the info.

Let me know how your install goes. Wishing you luck with it.

Please take some pictures and post them here. I've been following the thread for a while and want to learn as much as possible before investing in a system upgrade for my truck. I have the same concern about the sound not being as clear or loud as the factory system, and dealing with customer support would be a dealbreaker. I've never had any luck with customer support for any product and have often had to figure out how to fix things on my own.

I've had the Dasaita for 2-1/2 years. I had a speaker blow out, which i replaced with a speaker set up for all 4 doors plus the tweeters. The stock Toyota radio sounded like shit with them. I found the dasaita, which is like a mid price. I have had no issue with sound quality or loudness. The dasaita equalizer allows for like a really loud set up, or standard-which is me lol. I would not worry about the sound. The customer support was meh. The instructions really made it seem harder than it was. it took me a day to figure it all out, and when i was done, it seemed like i should have been done in 30 mins.

I have it installed , installation took about 30 mins it is very easy… sound quality , it is the same as factory as far as clear but it is louder . Not super loud, if you were thinking of replacing ur speakers because u wanted it to knock then you will still want to upgrade them but it is alittle louder then the factory head unit . Customer service was great with me , i spent a good amount of time talking to them and asking questions threw their instagram messaging they answered everything and even went as far as wiring up the units on a table for me and showing me different features and how they work only bad part was they are in china so major time difference but i never waited more then a day for a response , they usually started responding around 9pm est

Thank you for the write-up and the detailed information. You got one that is $650 range right? I'm not too worries about the sound loudness, i got it wired up with a dual 10' subs so the sound will be better, i assume. The set up on the write-up post looks great.

You mentioned an adapter you installed that allowed you to use the stock GPS antenna. Where did you get the adapter?

Thanks @Pimpala1962 that is really helpful, I was also wondering about those extra adapters for a non-JBL system in my 2015.

Mine is a 15 non jbl in the box that comes with the hu there are 2 main harnesses with canbus attatched to them ,( feom what i understand the canbus is what lets the radio talk to the car so things like steering wheel controls and interal settings work, i could be wrong about that )one harness is for 2014-2018 and the other is 2018 and up it shows this in the directions then everything just plugs into factory plugs and ur left with the trucks gps plug thats doesnt get plugged in unless u buy that wire and the xm radio stuff ill grab some pics of the wire and plugs when i pull the unit out this weekend

I installed the HA2220H2 8/256 G13 in my 2018 Tundra last month. I also came with two wiring harnesses - the CB004 and CB047. You have to look for it, but they're both labelled on one of the plugs. My 2018 took the CB004 CANBUS.

Earlier I posted that my HU wasn't producing the sound quality I had expected. Between a firmware update from Dasaita, and a return to the original stock whip antenna, sound quality is so much better.

Can somebody tell me where the remote turn on wire is on this head unit? I've read its suppose to be a blue and white wire but I'm not seeing it on the back. I'm trying to hook up a amp. Thanks guys!

I just installed the g13 with the large screen. Upgrading from a 5 year old 8.0 unit. A few questions...
1.) Which usb port are you using for the factory USB? I used the one that said phone link, and its not seeing it.
2.) Is there a stock GPS adapter?

I have the G13 but, not the FRAC harness. You most likely wont need the harness. Just run the rca for the front directly to the G13. There will be an icon on the screen to activate the front camera.

I had a similar setup previously. It was from Beat-Sonic and connected to the oem HU just like the FRAC setup. When i installed the G13, i removed the components and just ran the RCA directly to the G13 since there is a seperate input for front camera's.

Can you please tell me the steps to get the sim card to work? I just installed the SIM card from T-Mobile but don't know the procedure to get it working after installing it.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
I had the same question as @conviccted, and I've seen the G13 had the front camera input.
Just curious...Did your previous set up have a front/ rear switch? If so, were you able to keep it as a separate switch, or do you have to access the cameras through the G13 HU?
