Has anyone repaired/paid someone to repair the faded paint on their first gen? Looking at buying a first gen but they all need paint work near me. Or should I just be a man and leave it? :p

Take a look at white 1st Gen Tundras. Alledgedly white and other non-metallic Toyotas don't have clear coat, but use a single stage paint. I can confirm my 2008 040 white is single stage. When you don't have a dedicated clear coat, you don't have the risk of clear coat peel that is so common on Toyotas. Here is a thread that talks about 1st gen, white, and non-metallic paints. https://www.tundras.com/threads/2006-tundra-paint-no-clear-coat.71402/ My 2008 had never been waxed until I did it in 2023 and was super chocky. It took a lot of rubbing compound and a lot of white oxidation came off, but she is shiny and looking good again.

Color you choose is a huuuuuge factor and that thread explains why. It also explains your options for clear coat failure you’re showing IIRC.

I had someone paint my truck. Cost me about $6500, would have been cheaper if it wasn't in the red family.
