This install went smooth. I ordered the bracket and cooler from Jim and also used his parts list for the Toyota components. Quick shipping, excellent packaging, labeled hardware and a quality product!

Thanks for making these available. If you have any of the powder coated versions, I'd like to order one.

I'm down for one of the reworked brackets. I can source my own AN fittings if that makes things easier.

Edit: Is anyone aware if you can run a 40" light bar behind the grill with this cooler? I have a Diode Dynamics bar but have not purchased the mounts yet, so if the manufacturer of the mounts matters please let me know!

Updated first post with information on the Hayden 689 changes. Once I get a shipment of hardware in this week I’m going to list them on eBay. Until the hardware arrives I have a few ready to go out.

Can you make something for a gen.3? I’m sure a lot of us would be down to purchase.

I have been looking for a truck locally to take measurements from. Once I get the measurements I can select a cooler based on the room available, and then make a CAD file.

Any of you guys use the oem steel lines from the tranny on up to the cooler, or just rubber the whole way? I’ll be doing my install as soon as the weather breaks here in NY.

I used the OEM steel hardline, I know others have mentioned they were going to use rubber all the way. Just watch the routing around the exhaust and maybe consider a heat protectant sleeve in some spots.

If your handy with 3/8” fuel line and add some flares I’m sure you could custom bend your own lines.

Was it a pita securing those steel lines to the oem mounting points through the metal tabs which support the lines? Seems there are 2 mounting points. I have not looked into the line routing yet. Thanks Jmunk.

Securing the metal lines though the tabs was tricky because mine were about 1/2 bolt off, but I finally got it. There are 2 Toyota hoses (inlet/outlet) that connect T-stat to metal lines. Jim has all Toyota parts and part numbers listed in the PDF on page 1.

If you use the OEM hardline, you do need two hoses to go from thermostat to hardlines.

Installing the hardlines themselves was easy. I slid them in from the rear and a few twists and they fell into place. Took a few minutes for them.

I’d have to look it up, but a 3/8” push lock style hose with a decent heat intolerance might be an answer for those not wanting to add the hardlines. A basic heat sleeve near exhaust would add some insurance.

I haven’t reviewed and confirmed the part numbers below in the eBay listing, nor am affiliated with them or have any experience with them. There maybe other sellers as well, but buying as a “kit” may make it easy for some.

Thanks leebob. Yea, I just checked the parts list. Thank you. Not shopping it around it’s looking like an additional $230.00ish for all 3 oem lines. I just bought a thermostat for 130.00 so I may just go rubber lines with insulation as Jim suggested.

Something like this may provide heat and abrasion resistance. Just have to order for the right OD size of the hose.

Tons of options. Some will opt for the OEM hardlines and others will be content with rubber.

I debated on e-bay parts but just went with the cheapest dealer and free shipping. I probably spent $100 too much.

Im glad it made it safe and sound. I’ve found UPS be fairly gentle and reliable with their shipping times.

I do have a slightly blemished bracket. If anyone wants a bracket kit at a discounted price send me a PM.

Hayden 689 cooler installed with AN fittings from @LoMile_21

He has a thread going in the 2.5 GEN forum where he does a cost breakdown and talks about installation for those interested. I believe this to be one of the most cost effective ways for adding a transmission cooler.

    Thanks for the photo @LoMile_21

This may have been already mentioned or else I saw it in a video, after some thought I may go back and Loctite the threads on the cooler to fitting threads. This would need to be done after getting the hoses set in the desired position. I did not use thread sealant and did not observe any leaks, but I would sleep better knowing they won't loosen due to vibration. The fittings seal on the angle of the flare. Also make sure to hold the cooler side with a wrench when tightening.

I have always just left the threads dry and assembled AN fittings. I do mark them with a paint pen on both sides, this way I can look and get a visual on if they’ve backed off any - none have. Some thread sealant is an insurance policy.

It’s always a good practice to use another wrench to counter hold the other side of the fitting when torquing down.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

FYI - Fred Anderson Toyota is having a sale on parts as well as free shipping over $75. This is where I purchased the parts from for my kit.

Just ordered all the OEM parts for my 16' Sequoia and 19' Tundra from Fred Anderson. I have decided on Jmunk brackets and Hayden 689s. Do you guys have a specific hose from hard lines to cooler that you recommend or should I use the hose that come with the Haydens?

    Thanks,
    Erik

I have the 699 Hayden which is the same size as the 679. I would like the bracket plain or powder coated if you still have any. Hardware or no hardware. The bracket is jam up and jelly tight! Great job I hope you still have some

I still say MAKE one for the Hayden 699. It is a larger - temperature regulated valving and it sized to work for our trucks - Ask me how I know.
