I’m looking to upgrade my suspension system and I’m looking to get around 2-3 inches of lift out of the shocks. My main concern (I know it’s a long shot) is to calm down the wash board roads we have here in Arizona. I was a softer shock that won’t be so stiff. I have 5100s right now and they are just rock solid no matter the speed and low psi can only do so much. I’ve been looking into the fox 2.0 shocks and also the fox 2.5 non adjustable shocks but there are so many mixed reviews and it’s hard to trust all of them together. If you guys have any advice it would be appreciated!

Your bilsteins are what they call a digressive shock made more for big impacts vs a progressive shock made more for fast, small impacts. Think rock crawling vs desert racing. Fox is a linear shock that's in-between the two. The only progressive shock I can think of right now is ADS, but they're a bit pricey.

This is a good read on shock valving.

@memario1214 can help you pick the right shock for what you need. He walked me through what I needed.

2.5”-3” is a substantial lift in our trucks. It’s almost at the limit of what you can do. And you need to update other stuff when going that high, like if you’re running aftermarket LBJ (I hope not) or OEM LBJ with more than 100k miles, you’ll want to replace to reduce stress. You’ll need extended sway links. You may want to invest in JBA or SPC upper control arms to help with alignment.

Read the “suspension wheel & tires” section in the 1st reply of this thread before you move on: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

It would really suck if you installed this new stuff only to find out you didn’t realize the side effects or other stuff at play, and you’re now sinking tons of money into the truck.

Whatever you do, avoid strut spacers and lift blocks. Lifts that use spacers are overall not great.

This is the way. Order the best shocks you can afford and have them tuned for your usage. Wash boards benefit from larger shock bodies and more oil. So 2.5s with remote resis and a tune sound in order.

You don't get lift out of shocks. Springs are what give you lift. What springs are you running? I'm in AZ as well, I'm running 5100s as well, I've got OME 2884 coils and I find the ride very compliant over all different terrain and on the highway. I get that you have a DC vs. my AC, but there shouldn't be that big of a difference. Out back I've got the original leaf springs with Firestone Ride Rite airbags set at 12 psi. I think you're barking up the wrong tree with just concentrating on shocks and struts. Springs are very important.

Where are your springs set on the 5100 adjustable perch?

Regardless of what you buy. Unless you get them tuned. They all ride meh.....

With that said, I've gone over those wide speed bumps at 40mph w/ my truck and didn't even flinch.

    what springs are you running?

    suspension geometry is a bitch.
