To me, none of these actions would suggest any reason for the ECU to set knock sensor codes.
The LSD resets to off when the engine is shut off, and the LSD does not work in 4WD.
Have you looked to see if there are any rodent droppings anywhere under the hood? Maybe some debris suggesting that maybe they were nest building?

I’m just now able to get into this. I ordered - FEL PRO VS 50742 R -gasket kit for the 5.7 valve covers and spark plug tube seals. I have oil in the #2 spark plug tube on drivers side. I’ll load pics. Here is what I think is the problem. It was suggested to stop oil from getting into the spark plug tube I needed to replace the spark plug tube seals which required removing the valve cover? I don’t know so I ordered and picked up the above kit.

Two things - First: the spark plug tube on the #2 spark plug tube is proud of all 7 of the other spark plug tubes. The top of the tubes are all exterior of the valve cover and the spark plug tube seals are all external. I only needed 1 spark plug tube seals which but I now have a full kit. Second: these aftermarket seals are thicker and I don’t see them clearing the tab on the coil tube. I don’t think them clipping on is a big thing but is this a normal thing for aftermarket tube seals? Here are pics to explain.

Long story short, truck needs a new bank 2 sensor 2 oxygen sensor. Dealer has ordered the part and wants 374.00 to install. My question is, if I install the sensor, is there any calibration or anything like that after install? Also, what side is the B2S2 on? Thank you. -- Max

Well, one question asked and answered, the spark plug tubes are screwed in with sealant. So valve cover removal is required
to screw it back in tight. So I've forgone that for now. I need to get rid of the rat under the intake issue first, so I'm
starting that now. Only dropped one 10 mm bolt on the back so far - maybe find it later. My intent and practice is to remove
bolt, slide item out of the way, reinsert bolt. That way the bolts on the top don't get lost or mixed up.

Notice a spot under my truck today that hadn’t been present prior. For reference, the truck is a 2016 with almost 219k miles. Coolant and transmission flushed by Toyota about 2 months ago.

After crawling under to investigate it looks to possibly be coolant, but is stemming from the rear of the engine near the transmission. Is there a plug back there that potentially didn’t get closed adequately?

It’s a tight spot so the below is the best picture I could get. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Long time Toyota guy, but Tundras are new to me.

i am of the opinion that toyota has engineers whose sole mission in life is to make diy maintenence a frustrating experience for most. i am doing plugs on my 2017 sr5 and its not fun.

That is true, but I did find doing plugs on the 5.7 was easier and quicker than on my 2nd gen dodge 4.7

Quoting myself here. Based off my research over the last 24hrs my issue sounds very reminiscent of the coolant valley leak that is a known issue on other Toyota/Lexus engines. I had no idea the same problem could exist on the tundra 5.7, how naïve of me

And that is a fairly easy job on the 5.7.

A coworker, who in the past year bought his first Tundra (2020 XSP) is experiencing premature tire wear on the outside of one front side. He has been to two shops who supposedly have "aligned" it. On to his next set of tires and doing the same thing. He's ready to sell but I told him it has to be suspension, tie rod, hub runout or something causing it. Am I missing anything? Might have to pony up some cash if he is selling his truck even though I already have one. It's too nice of a truck to get rid of.

I would try lowering the toe as it’s pretty high but still “in the green” so the techs will say it’s perfect. Go about .1 degree lower for around 0.08 toe in.

Oh and tire rotation at every oil change. I’ve had tires cup like that when I didn’t rotate and went 10k miles.

Aside from $5/gallon, what is the difference between the Toyota Long Life Coolants - 00272-SLLC2 vs 00272-1LLAC-01? Which one for a 2008 Tundra?

SLLC2 is the Super Long life Coolant and the other is the older Long Life coolant. The Super long life coolant is suppose to have a 5 year change interval and the other, I believe, is two years. The new stuff is pink in colour and the older coolant is red.

Need to do maintenance on the wifes 2016 highlander xle. I believe it's awd. Currently at 103k. From my reading these are these the correct fluids I need to change? Is there anything else I am missing? Oil, front/rear diff, transmission, engine coolant, brake fluid?

All the info on what maintenance needs to be performed at specific mileage can be found in the maintenance section of the owner’s manual.

    Fuel Dilution???

My wife's 2018 GX (105K miles) oil seems to have a gasoline smell to it & it seems thinner that it ought to be. I think it is fuel dilution. She drives approx 5 miles to and back to work each day. Takes around 12-15 minutes to get there. Could the shorter trips be causing it? PCV? Any other thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated.

I have started changing the oil at 5K but now am wondering if I need to change it even sooner. I also switched to 5W30.

It's not just Toyota engineers. As I'm sure you're aware.
Had a car once that took me 8 hours to replace a cam cover gasket. It had dual overhead cams and several parts had to come off. I'm not a mechanic but I know my way around cars. It was crazy.

Valve covers are not that hard to replace if you have the right tools and it can take a while though
