Hi everyone, my "10 Tundra 5.7 with 91k started illuminating oil pressure light (the "!") while the gauge is reading normally.
Always keep up on oil changes every 5k and she's topped off, so started with the pressure sending unit. O'Reilly's was the only place in stock and got it, though the reviews aren't good. Back to normal for a week and started (!) again. I started over with a dealer unit and no love.
I sprayed some D5 on the contact still with no luck.
Interwebs saying could be clogged pick up, bad filter, or failing pump, but those failures would read low pressure on the gauge i would think.
Hoping I might gain some insight or ideas, thanks

Need to do some research. Sometimes the idiot light is based on the primary op sensor with ecu turning on light at certain level. Other times they use a separate sender for the light. Have no idea how its done on tundra

I noticed there is a sending unit and a separate pressure switch. Possible that is the fault though nothing I have seen suggests that.

OP gauge reading normal with warning light on is contrdictory; One of them has to be wrong. A brand new press sender along with the fact that they rarely indicate perfectly normal with low oil pressure should point you to the warning circuit.

As in, something wrong with the green wire or connector, correct? My next step will be removing the skid and having a friend monitor the light while I'm underneath.
My big concern is doing damage to the engine, do you feel that as long as the gauge is reading normal I'm safe to drive? Thanks for your replies

Hard to say if it is wiring, connector or the sender itself. typically a sender like this either opens or closes a set of contacts when the OP is above a set PSI. Should be easy to test with a meter. If it were my engine, I would not be concerned as the oil press gauge is behaving as it had for the last many thousands of miles. I would also confirm the other sender just to be sure, as there is a very small chance of an issue. I would confirm the the OP gauges moves as it used to at startup and coming off idle. If this is the case, very smal chance it is not accurate.

I would just get a cheap analog gauge and plumb it into the system. You can just leave it under the hood but it'll tell you exactly how much pressure you have. Then you will know if you are doing damage to the engine while you try to figure out what's not working right.

Never trust reviews. Check the wiring and use quality parts
