Quick question. Let's say I have stage 2 installed. It is possible to tune it in a way that it can be used with or without the water/meth. by just turning the water/meth on or off without the need of further adjustments and/or restrictions? Or the tune must be different for one way or the other, meaning that the water/meth must be On or off all the time depending on the tune?

Yes and no, you could tune it without the water meth and then just run more rich with it on, but ideally, you would tune for the fuel mixture you would be running.

Are you asking if you have to load a different tune to spray meth?

Good point, I should have elaborated... You do not need to switch tuned to run meth. You could tune with it it and then turn meth on, on the same tune. It would run slightly more rich, most likely scrubbing some power, but no, you would not have to switch maps. What you wouldn't want to do is tune / use the meth to be on the razors edge of performance and then run without it...

Yes as Jesse stated. Iogged both with and without W/M, 500cc full flow. I have PE setup that if I run out or have a situation it is still rich enough in low boost, 7psi, to give some protection. If I run out I can always throw in some water to reduce IAT's.

Yes this ideal. I have 2 separate tunes. But if I don't have my laptop just gotta stay out of boost, wot!

If I were going right to stage 2 I’d personally skip the meth when tuning it so as to not be dependent on it, and simplifying the system altogether. I would think the intercooler deems it unnecessary. It’s a nice cooling effect and added safety net, but evidently in a very rare case it could also wreak havoc as we have now unfortunately seen. I also like to skip extra electrical aftermarket components and connections wherever possible, but again that’s probably just me.

I would run without W/M as you pointed out. I'm not injecting the amount needed for my estimated HP. Just enough to lower IAT's and lower PE about .7 as I'm only at 30% methanol and I could inject plain water to lower IAT's also if needed.

Thanks for the slap on my sun burned ass. It's too soon and really stings. :)

I have decided I will be keeping the tank empty and I'll be killing power to the AEM controller. I'm holding off on completely removing the system until after the PTSD from all of this fades a bit. Then I'll reassess. That said, the power switch to the system like everyone has spoken about, plus the solenoid, and people should be able to avoid whatever the hell happened that one regretful morning not long ago...

Sorry man! No intent to rub it in, it really rots and you don’t deserve it. As you said, if your scenario prevents others from having the same issue then at least that. If you’re feeling like disabling it for the time being is the right answer it may be the best choice for others as well if the now known risk, no matter how small, isn’t worth the reward when also using an intercooler was all I was suggesting.

    Yes

    Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks for the info! I like the idea of tuning it so as to not be dependent on it as @Silver17 mentioned and keeping it to give some protection as @Mdl mentioned. Of course I am counting with @TurboKits support to achieve this :).

I still laugh at how simple it is. I know it's simple, but in the truck, it seems like magic because it fits. Lol

Unboxed everything today and first thing I’ll say is that if FedEx manages to damage anything in these boxes, they did it on purpose. I unpacked 2 55gal trash bags worth of packing peanuts not counting the various other wrapping methods.

On that note, be very diligent when going through the peanuts. Lots of little parts that are easily missed. As I was scooping the boxes out I found the meth solenoid and nozzles hiding in a box that I had rummaged through multiple times.

There’s a lot to go through and now I gotta start planning things out.

    Yaaaawn.

Does anyone have anything cool to share? Progress? Updates? Anything? :)

I'm stuck in purgatory waiting on, well, literally everything, so I'm thoroughly bored.

I saw the Stage 2 install instructions and I'll say this: they are thorough, but don't hesitate to ask him for help! It's a full day ( maybe two if you've never done it), but know it does all fit! Unless you have an aftermarket cooler, then you'll need to get creative or just mirror what they did for mine.

Also, not that it matters, but if you care, wrap your tubing in painters tape or plastic wrap until it's all finish installed. Or, ceramic coat it now before you start handling it a lot. I did mine after and while it's sealed, it could def use a good polishing before the 2025 cruise night season.

I'll be over here kicking rocks waiting for progress.
