Your truck also has a 5 speed transmission with a .761 ratio, so it’s really not comparable with the 6 speeds in that regard.

I’m around 2500ish on 34’s with 5.29’s at 80 with my 6spd. The gearing in these transmissions is way too high in my opinion.

I guarantee that a tundra with 35s and 5.29s is not at 2700 rpm at 55mph like that chart says. If you do an image search you can find that posted on jeep forums from 2007

There also is typically criteria used to build out the chart, example, 55mph (provided)in a 1:1 gear (assumed since they only speak to a final gear ratio).

Running my truck in 4th at 55mph might actually be close to 2700. It's been a second and I can't remember exactly. Sharing because it supports the assumption.

It’ll be fine. Unloaded mileage is still the same as factory but towing improved 2mpg.

    I went from 285 / 75 / 17 E load bfg ko2 to a C load Toyo AT3 in 35x12.5r17. Weight wise it’s negligible and driveability/performance/comfort wise it’s better. Do it.

Edit: not saying a re-gear isn't beneficial, but I didn’t experience any noticeable loss going up to 35 while shedding 4 ish lbs per corner. Even putting on my winter 33s on stock wheels doesn’t wow me with power.

Get Revolutions and a proper installer. Nitro sucks. The rest is meh. Revolutions (setup right) is the first gear I’ve had that doesn’t whine. I’ve had 5 regeared trucks, 4 being nitro.

No personal experience with Revolution, but I’ve got 80-some thousand trouble free miles on my Nitro 5.29 gears with my 285/75-18 LRE Falkens. I’d venture to say it may be more about the install than the gear manufacturer.

Man I thought so too. But 4 sets of Nitro gears installed perfectly each time and every single one whined like crazy at cruising speeds on the freeway. 40-45, then anything above 60mph it was just too much lol. And I broke them in delicately too, I wish I had a better experience with their gearsets.

I am running 315's on stock gears. I did have to reprogram the speedo as my shift points were jacked when towing, other than that I have no complaints. Gears can be a can of worms it seems.

Reach out to @dirtydeeds for gears. Got mine from them and had a local shop install them that was recommended by @texoma and zero issues.

It's crazy you've done this so many times. I'm hunting around for an installer in Las Vegas.

Also, dumb question but to they need to drop the axles from the truck when the install, or do the just pull shafts to remove the ring gear? Also, did you replace bearings when you do this mod?

lol! Lots of trucks. In the front the entire diff comes out as one piece. In the rear, driveshaft is disconnected and axle shafts are slid out enough to pull the third out.

Here is a write up that is pretty decent. For the rear.

I’d question how perfectly they’re set up if you’ve had four sets that were all garbage. Good chance that something is amiss.

Full disclosure, mine are not as silent as the OEM gears. But, they’re not loud. They run smooth, and still sound the exact same as day one which was over three years ago.

Install guy did have to work more than normal to get shimming correct for the rear though. Tundra is a newer platform for him, so he took his time. I’m pleased with the result. Sorry you’ve had a different experience!
