What are we looking at for a potential price? I’d be down for a extreme VB depending on cost.

I'll add you to the list so Johnny can figure out numbers and let everyone know next week. Specifically called it "potential participants" for your exact question.

Got off my ass and made some progress on my larger throttle body/5" intake project. I got the 3URFE snout removed and the GM snout installed, and "mounted" my replacement coolant reservoir. Next is removing and replacing the radiator shroud coolant expansion, relocating and replacing the PS reservoir and re-plumbing SC coolant to use the new reservoir...then the intake should be able to rotate down and fit right behind the headlight...for now. The plan is to put the filter element in the space where the SAIS air pumps are normally mounted, in the wheel well.

Looks like if you're running a super/turbo setup extreme is the best bet. Please jot me down for the extreme VB.

From Wholesale Auto, but maybe @Cruisers & Co. can confirm, this is in response to my concern over harsh or violent shifts with the Extreme:

"The shifts will be cleaner, slightly firm in your instance but not aggressive or violent."

Looking good! I've been eyeing going from 4.5 to 5 inch intake. I found a few candidate intakes to fab up. What brand did you use?

I bought a 5" 90* with 18" legs from Summit racing I think (bulk aluminum intake tubing), MAF fitting from MRP, HPS Silicone 4.25" to 5" 90* with 6" legs, and a few AN and NPT bungs from Vibrant performance.

Cool. I saw a 30 degree 5 inch intake with 7 inch legs each side that will work.

So, just confirming, tune would be required (ideal) for the valve body swap to be effective, correct??

I don’t believe a tune is required to realize the mechanical benefits of the modified valve body.

No tune is necessary. Plug and play or swap and play.

Great list so far! All of WAT products are on the table for this group buy. I think the way I’d like to approach the nomad vs extreme is by seeing what power everyone is making vs their expected/potential power they’d like to hit. For example if you’re at a stage 1 turbo but expect to go stage 2 relatively soon and make 700+ hp then the extreme would be the way to go. For those that have a bolt on SC and will not shoot for more then the nomad will be the better option. This will be a case by case basis and we will reach out to anyone who orders to confirm.

Shifting harshness will depend on the setup. Nomad is crisper than stock and Extreme is crisper than nomad. There is a trade off in harshness with the ability to hold the added hp/tq but this is why we will reach out to confirm the end output.

Replacing the valve body is a plug and play mechanical item so it shouldn’t require a retune.

Stage 2 turbo and I tow so the extreme is what I want. I like a good firm and quick, not hard, shift. Don’t need this barking tires on gear shifts.

I would recommend a complete drain and fill of the atf. Get the fluid out of the torque converter and cleaning up the solenoids so your good to go with no clutch debri to gum up your new VB.

@Cruisers & Co. Would WAT sell C2, B3 and C2 accumulator springs for the ab60 Valve body? I have a built vb but would like stiffer shifts 2-4. Thanks!

I should have narrowed my quote down. The write up of the Extreme VB clarified what I was asking about.

And... I gotta ask?. How would a Wholesale Automatic Transmission extreme VB shift be harsh compared to an IPT /Level10 VB upgrade? Both use sonaxx parts and various MOJO to give the edge....just had to put it out there.

You stated "overhauled HD Transmissions". WAT stated they do only a standard oem build on transmissions. Do they have a heavy duty ab60? Or just offer an extreme or nomad build VB?
