What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

That's a lot of preload. Did you adjust it that high yourself?

 

I was looking at those CV angles and the stock bumpstops.

For some reason it bothers me that bumpstops are more over-looked, when lifting, than UCAs and end links combined. I know my Toytec Boss coilovers came with thick washers to use to space the OEM bumpstops an extra ~3/8" from the frame. But I never see anyone use em.

I believe in order of most to least important: UCAs, bumpstops, end links

 

Bump stops were ordered on Monday, they just haven’t arrived yet! I only ordered front bump stops though.

 

I agree. My plan was to have it sit even or maybe 1/4” huger in the front so when they “settle” it would be slightly ass high. I think I’m gonna have to make some adjustments

 

Quality kit, nice looking install. However….
You have what appears to be zero downtravel left. This is going to be a rough ride. You’ll have to adjust that preload back down a pretty good ways to make this setup liveable. What was you before and after measurements?

 

Reality is, he's adjusted up about 2" higher in front than any 1st gen should be without using a bracket lift, and he really needs to dial it down, because riding like that is going to break or bend some shit in the short term. I see a bent knuckle in his immediate future, from something as pedestrian as a speed bump or pothole.

If I had to guess, he's probably sitting with ~3½" squat out back. Unless the angle of the photo is whack.

 

I just did this in mine and found the same exact thing, they were changed at the dealer last I can tell. I also changed to the Denso coppers based off the VIN.

 

Hey @bhb983 nice setup and good looking truck. I’d suggest backing off the preload though. I went through that last night with mine (same coilovers). I think I have about 7/8” of preload, or 12 threads in driver side and 10 threads on passenger side, which has my front sitting a hair over 23.5” in front. But I haven’t driven my truck so hopefully I’ll settle closer to 23.25.
I’d hate for you to have to reboot those CVs again so soon.

Careful with the mounting of that resi, your UCA will probably hit that elbow if you get close to your bump stops

What's the thread-to-lift ratio on those Fox? Like, my Aluma 2.0s are like - I think - one inch per one full thread. I'm guessing it's not the case with Fox.

Side-by-side comparison on what looks to be a pretty-normal adjustment vs. the other pretty-outlandish - look at the agle of the UCA, and this is while sitting on the ground - holy shit!!! All the stress that's placing on the knuckle and added torsion on the UBJ is arguably dangerous:

I think it’s just the perspective of the picture.

 

For maximum comfort you want the LCA’s about level.

 

I’ve learned it’s all relative and depends on the coil, etc. But I think the rule of thumb is: a 1/2” of preload equals 1” of lift.

 

Did this with the 5100 lift about 120k miles ago. Think washers came with the shocks IIRC. Still running em with the eibachs now.

 

The uca can definitely make contact with the inner fender……

 

Yeah, I realized after alignment that I was way too high. I ordered a spanner wrench last night so I’m gonna drop them down when it gets here. This is my first time setting up adjustable coilovers and I over estimated the amount of preload I needed.

Can you cancel the order? I have the spanner and backup spanner. I'd loan them out and save you some dollars.
I learned that you have to adjust the Fox coilovers off of the truck which is a bit annoying, but also a lot easier than trying to compress the spring on the truck and trying to spin the collar with the resi hose and shock tower in the way. It took me about 2 hours last night to adjust both sides.

 

Oh I wasn't doubting that. And it's possible that I didn't put the cans back in the right spot last night. But, at least originally, I had them setup so they were out of harms way. I'll take another look when I get it back from alignment.

The backup isn’t necessary. I bought both without knowing. I’d sell you the backup for cheap or I’ll loan them out to you. PM me if you’re interested in either.

 

I appreciate your offer but I think it would be nice to just have one. I can throw it in the glove box in case I ever need it. I think it was like $50 for the Fox one.

 

How much lift did you get from setting them up like this?

 

Can a leaking muffler throw an 02 sensor code? I replaced my passenger side 02 sensors over the summer, and was good for months, but just got the same bank 2 code a couple weeks ago. I replaced the air filter and cleaned the MAF and had the battery disconnected, and after driving just a few miles, the light didn't come back on, but I noticed while the truck was warming up that exhaust was coming out of a small hole in the muffler.

I'll see if the code comes back. When I cleared the code with the reader a few weeks ago, the light came back on within just a few miles. I only just drove across town this time and so far no code, but I'm not convinced...

Used the foam cannon and pressure washer to rid my truck of the salt, hopefully it's done for the rest of the year. I didn't go for a full wash since it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow. I always add AMMO Boost for extra protection against corrosion.
