Seriously, though, that really sucks. I just read up on the other thread. Gut wrenching. I also get hassled occasionally for wearing warm clothes on short trips, but I also drove a Ford for a while so I was used to waiting in the freezing cold next to a broken down vehicle.. It was a long time ago before cel phones were really a thing. I have repented of my ways since then..

I hope you get it all sorted out quickly.

Thanks. Again, wish it was the result of something I was responsible for. I kinda just need to shake my head and move forward because I don't think I'll ever truly process it. Focus is now on XAT long block or stock so I can get back to reaching (or beating) my goal. Just wasn't ready to wrap my cranium around an engine build.

Maybe I missed it, but did you drain the fluid out of the cylinders and then crank it? I saw you say the engine was seized, was that after draining the fluid? I thought the issue usually with hydro locking a motor was the engine stopping abruptly and bending a rod, but if it's full of water and can't move and tried to crank there's a good chance the rods don't bend. If it was me, I'd crank it, wouldnt move, see it was full of fluid, pull plugs and drain the crank and get the water out, crank the engine to blow the cylinders out, maybe fill cylinders with 2 stroke oil and let sit (common trick on jet skis that sink). I don't see why the engine would be seized once the water is out, and good chance nothing broke since it wasn't running it seems like.

Alternatively if a rod did bend, you should be able to find which one and then maybe you can replace just that rod with the engine still installed and then you just have to pull a head off.

Did you go through all those steps? Or am I missing that part, and when you said the engine is seized it's just catastrophically stuck even with everything drained?

From reading everything, I think the crank seized but the engine didn’t hydrolock like you are thinking. That usually makes loud noises. Bearings seized up from having methanol as a lubricant instead of oil. The real question is how much of that methanol made it around the engine and what other bearings got wiped.

Yeah most hydro-locks bend or break a rod which then exits stage left through the block. Either way its not great news.

Pulled all plugs, drained the pan, can't get the thing to budge manually via the crank shaft. Ended up loosening the pulley bolt without any movement in either direction. It was a pop, then silence. This is the underneath, but I don't see the source.

Can you see anything by the starter? I had 8 and 6 rod pop through on passenger side. My crank was tuck from 8/6 and 7/5/3 rods.

I'll need to take a look when I can get to that side of the garage. We're in winter storm prep right now.

I also just tried to turn it over with the starter and I quickly stopped in hopes I can reuse it. Not even a click or a nudge out of it, just the sound of a heavily loaded electric motor.

That arctic blast is coming, be safe. Been a long time experiencing the N winters of 70's-80's, don't miss it.

Biggest snow in a year or two, first of the season, but it's that artic blast coming right behind it that is the problem.

You know the drill. All it means is proactive roof raking to prevent ice dams, and it's best to do it while it is still warm outside (tomorrow is 25*). The shoulders can't wait :muscleflexing:

Dude sorry to hear about the troubles. Hope you get the truck sorted soon.

I remember one of our knuckleheads topping off coolant into the wrong humvee orifice and hyrdolocked the engine. Fun times but we were lucky we caught it early.

Also, yes, this is a bit of click bait, but to not jinx anything, I will say this:

This forum is amazing, but props to the active members in both this and the turbo thread. Y'all are some of the coolest, most helpful people I've ever virtually known. Someone reached out with an insanely helpful gesture. I'll update once things are figured out, but to the person - thank you for even trying!!! Time out of their schedule to try and help someone is beyond kind these days and person stepped right in and did it on their own, on the DL. I'll drop the name once we figure out what is what since I'll be advocating for a national holiday in their honor if things pan out

1000% People are great here and the advice given is exceptional.

The only questions that have gone unanswered are "what oil is best?" and "will my tires fit?"

True mysteries of the universe will never be answered.

Traded the wife for a supercharger. The whining is more tolerable now.

I can say that since she doesn't read the forums.

    Some shady folks out there...

Two supercharged Tundras that were recently purchased on the used market came in for tuning this weekend with OEM N/A injectors...
